Tom Grljusich
Duje Tomy "Tom" Grljusich (born 13 August 1940) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for South Fremantle in the Western Australian National Football League and Central District in the South Australian National Football League. Three of his brothers played league football – George and Don for South Fremantle and John for East Fremantle. Playing career Taking up playing football as an 18-year-old in 1958 for Cockburn Ex Scholars, he won the best and fairest award in his first year. After receiving offers from South Fremantle and East Fremantle, he joined South Fremantle before the 1959 season. Grljusich made his league debut in round one of the 1960 season alongside his brother George. In 1965 he joined South Australian team Central District. At Central he won the club fairest and best award in 1966. He rejoined South Fremantle in 1968, playing until 1976. South Fremantle Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in Fremantle, Western Australia. The club plays in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL) and the WAFL Women's (WAFLW), commonly going by the nickname the ''Bulldogs''. Since its founding, the club has won 14 WAFL premierships, the most recent of them in 2020. Founded in 1900 after disbanding the successful but debt-burdened Fremantle Football Club (not related to the AFL Dockers entity), the club enjoyed its most successful era in the immediate decade following the end of the Second World War, winning six premierships, including a hat-trick from 1952 to 1954. Martin Paul "Marty" Atkins (born 4 May 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Atkins holds the record for the most WAFL matches played for South Fremantle. Early life Atkins was born in London, England and arrived in Australia as a teenager. He attended Kwinana Senior High School. Playing career Junior football Atkins began playing for Kwinana at under-16 level. Mal Brown
Malcolm Gregory "Mal" Brown (born 26 October 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League and West Australian National Football League. He is described as "one of the most colourful and controversial characters" of the game. He was a highly controversial character not only for his many visits to the tribunal during his playing career but also for a number of incidents when coaching as well. Career Brown played in the WAFL (West Australian Football League ) for East Perth, Claremont and South Fremantle. His honours as a player include the Sandover Medal in 1969 and three best and fairests at East Perth (1969, 70, 72). Best And Fairest
In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season. In each game, the umpires award three votes to the player they judge to be the best afield in that game, two votes to the second-best player and one vote to the third-best player. The votes are counted at a gala function on the Monday preceding the Grand Final.
