Thomas Watt Gregory (November 6, 1861February 26, 1933) was an American politician and lawyer. He was a progressive and attorney who served as US Attorney General from 1914 to 1919 under US President Woodrow Wilson. Early life Gregory was born in Crawfordsville, Mississippi. He graduated from the Webb School (Bell Buckle, Tennessee) in 1881 and Southwestern Presbyterian University, today known as Rhodes College, in 1883, and was a special student at the University of Virginia. Gregory entered the University of Texas at Austin in 1884 and graduated a year later with a degree in law. He began the practice of law in Austin, Texas, Austin in 1885 and served as a regent of the University of Texas for eight years. Gregory Gymnasium was named in honor of his efforts to provide an adequate exercise facility for the students and faculty of the university. Thomas R. Gregory (July 26, 1927 – December 11, 2006) was an American radio and television announcer and news anchor. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Gregory served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he went to Seton Hall University in New Jersey, initially as a law student. It was at that point that he began his broadcasting career as an announcer with their radio station. He then switched majors, received a bachelor's degree in communications, and after graduation became an announcer with WPAT in Paterson, New Jersey, where a few other announcers of the time later became announcers at his future employer. In 1955, Gregory joined WABD (later WNEW-TV, now WNYW) in New York, as an announcer and occasional children's show host.
