Tom Goodwin
Thomas Jones Goodwin (born July 27, 1968) is an American professional baseball coach and former player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 14 seasons, primarily as a center fielder, from 1991 to 2004. As a player, he was listed at and ; he batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Goodwin has coached in MLB for the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox. Playing career Goodwin attended Central High School in Fresno, California, and then went on to play for Fresno State University. He was a two-time All-American selection at Fresno State, and was also named to ''The Sporting News'' college All-America team in 1989. The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Goodwin in the sixth round (134th overall) of the 1986 MLB draft, but he did not sign. A center fielder, abbreviated CF, is the outfielder in baseball who plays defense in center field – the baseball and softball fielding position between left field and right field. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the center fielder is assigned the number 8. Position description Outfielders must cover large distances, so speed, instincts and quickness to react to the ball are key. They must be able to catch fly balls above their heads and on the run. Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates are an American professional baseball team based in Pittsburgh. Central High School is a multi-campus high school located in Fresno, California. The first campus is known as the West Campus, erected in 1922. The second campus, called the East Campus, opened its doors to students in August 1996. Central High serves grades 9-12 and is part of the Central Unified School District Central Unified is currently constructing a new campus expected to open during the 2021-2022 school year. The new high school will be named after the late Central Football Coach Justin Garza. Justin Garza High School will be a separate school from Central High School in Central Unified.
