Tom De Mul
Tom De Mul (; born 4 March 1986) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a right winger. Club career Born in Kapellen, Antwerp, De Mul began his career in K.F.C. Germinal Beerschot, but joined the AFC Ajax youth academy at age 15 like compatriot Thomas Vermaelen a year before. He made his first-team debut on 25 January 2004 against NEC Nijmegen, but appeared only eight times in the Eredivisie in his first two years combined. After a solid 2005–06 (spent on loan) at Vitesse Arnhem, De Mul returned to Amsterdam and figured prominently during his first full year, starting in 23 of the 28 matches he appeared in. In the subsequent off-season he signed with Spanish side Sevilla FC for five years, but spent the vast majority of his first seasons barred by Jesús Navas, a club youth product; however, on 16 November 2008, having only played five minutes at Getafe CF, he scored in a 2–0 La Liga away win. Jesús Navas González (; born 21 November 1985) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a right winger or a right-back for La Liga club Sevilla. He has spent the vast majority of his career with Sevilla, playing 605 official matches and winning seven major titles, including three Europa League titles and two Copas del Rey. In 2013 he signed for Manchester City, where he won the 2013–14 Premier League. He re-joined Sevilla in 2017, going on to hold the club's record for most competitive appearances. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time. The number of substitutes has risen over time as well as the number of reserve players allowed to be nominated. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. The 2009–10 La Liga season (known as the ''Liga BBVA'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 79th La Liga since its establishment. Barcelona were the defending champions, having won their 19th La Liga title in the previous season.
