Tom Davidson
Tom Davidson (born 3 February 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who was recruited from the Geelong Falcons in the 2001 AFL Draft by the Collingwood Football Club. His career was hindered by two serious knee injuries, the first during the 2003 preseason, and the second in his first and only Australian Football League The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Geelong Falcons
The Geelong Falcons is a youth Australian rules football representative club in the NAB League, the Victorian statewide under-18s competition, Victoria, Australia. The club takes in talented junior players from the Geelong, Colac and Warrnambool regions in order to prepare them for AFL selection. There is an under-15 V-Line cup side and an under-16 side, but the club's main focus is its under-18 side, who play a longer season. In 2007, Jimmy Bartel became the first ex-Falcon to win the AFL Brownlow Medal, for the league's best and fairest player, while Jonathan Brown became the first ex-Falcon to win the Coleman Medal for the most goals in the season. 2001 AFL Draft
The 2001 AFL draft consisted of a state draft, a body draft, a pre-season draft and a trade period. The AFL draft is the annual draft of players by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League (AFL). In 2001 there were 83 picks to be drafted between 16 teams in the national draft. The Fremantle Dockers originally received the first pick in the national draft after finishing on the bottom of the ladder in the 2001 AFL season but they traded it to Hawthorn for Trent Croad. The 2005 AFL draft was the 2005 event of the AFL draft, the annual draft of players by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League. The 2005 draft consisted of a pre-season draft, a national draft, a trade period and a rookie elevation. In 2005, there were 76 picks to be drafted amongst 16 teams in the national draft. The Carlton Football Club, Carlton Blues received the first pick in the national draft after finishing on the bottom of the ladder during the 2005 AFL season. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Garry Davidson
Garry Davidson (10 February 1954 – 26 November 2020) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong and Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s. Originally from Devonport, Davidson was at Geelong for three seasons and twice kicked four goals in a game. His second VFL stint, which came four years after leaving Geelong, was with Richmond. He also played with Caulfield in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Davidson coached Glenorchy to a Tasmanian Football League premiership in 1983 and also North Hobart to TFL Statewide premierships in 1987 and 1989. He was named, in 2000, as an assistant coach in North Hobart's official 'Team of the Century'. He has since served as the football manager at Geelong in the AFL and in 2006 was inducted into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame for his career as a coach.
