Tomas Chester (born 11 May 2001) is an Australian rugby league footballer who plays as a for the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League (NRL). Background Born in Townsville, Queensland, Chester played his junior rugby league for Norths Thuringowa Devils and Townsville Brothers. He attended Ignatius Park College. Playing career Early career In 2020, Chester played for the Townsville Brothers A-Grade side before signing for the North Queensland Cowboys. In 2021, Chester joined the Cowboys' Young Guns squad and played for the Townsville Blackhawks Hastings Deering Colts side, starting at in their Grand Final loss to the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. 2022 In the 2022 pre-season, Chester joined the North Queensland NRL squad and played in their trial win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs, making the move to fullback. Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. The 2022 NRL season is the 115th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 25th season run by the National Rugby League. Teams The lineup of teams remained unchanged for the 16th consecutive year. This became the second longest stretch of time (after 1947-1966 - 20 seasons) of a continuous line-up of teams in competition history (overtaking 1967-1981 - 15 seasons). Pre-season Pre-season matches were played between 12 February and 28 February 2022, before a 10-day lead up until the beginning of the regular season. It featured nineteen matches across three weekends, including the 2022 All Stars match, which was won by the Māori All Stars 16 – 10, and the annual Charity Shield match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and St George Illawarra Dragons, which the Dragons won 16–10.
