Tom Brown (footballer Born 1919)
Thomas Brown (26 October 1919 – May 2000)England & Wales, Death Index: 1916–2006 was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper and spent most of his career with Ipswich Town. He was also a Commando during World War II. Youth Born in Troon, Brown was born the youngest of four brothers, three of whom played professionally. His oldest brother Jim began his career in the United States and was a member of the U.S. national team at the 1930 FIFA World Cup before retiring from Clyde F.C. in 1941. His brother John was a Scottish international goalkeeper who played for Hibs and Clyde, and won the 1939 Scottish FA Cup with Clyde. Troon
Troon is a town in South Ayrshire, situated on the west coast of Ayrshire in Scotland, about north of Ayr and northwest of Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Troon has a port with freight services and a yacht marina. Up until January 2016, P&O Ferries, P&O operated a seasonal ferry service to Larne. In May 2006, a ferry service to Campbeltown was added, although this was withdrawn the following year. In the 2001 census the population of Troon, not including the nearby village of Loans, South Ayrshire, Loans but including the Barassie area, was estimated at 14,766, a 4.77% increase on the 1991 estimate of 14,094. Name The name ''Troon'' is likely from a Brythonic languages, Brythonic or Pictish language, Pictish name cognate with Welsh language, Welsh ("nose, cape"). New Cumnock
New Cumnock is a town in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It expanded during the coal-mining era from the late 18th century, and mining remained its key industry until its pits were shut in the 1960s. The town is southeast of Cumnock, and east of Ayr. History Early history One of the first mentions of the village was when Patrick Dunbar of Comenagh signed the Ragman Roll of 1296. Blind Harry's poem ''The Wallace (poem), The Actes and Deidis of the Illustre and Vallyeant Campioun Schir William Wallace'' placed William Wallace in and around the village in his heroic tales of the patriot, calling it Cumno.
