Thomas Bowen (died 1790) was a Welsh engraver of charts. He was the son of Emanuel Bowen (1693/4–1767), map engraver to George II and Louis XV. He died in Clerkenwell workhouse early in 1790. Thomas Bowen (Wisconsin Politician)
Thomas Smith Bowen (May 1, 1808October 20, 1883) was an American farmer, Democratic politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing Green County during the 1852 and 1853 sessions. Biography Thomas Smith Bowen was born in Bennington County, Vermont, on May 1, 1808. He was raised and educated in New England, moving west to the Wisconsin Territory in 1836. He settled on a farm in the town of Clarno, Wisconsin, in what is now Green County, where he resided for much of the rest of his life. At the time, there were only about six houses in the township and no roads. Smith was recalled in an anecdote from the pioneer years of the Wisconsin Territory, during the difficult Winter of 1842–1843. Corn was scarce and cattle were dying of starvation. Thomas Bowen (1756–1827) was a Welsh Independent minister. He began work as a farm worker at an early age, but also attended lessons given by John Griffiths (1731–1811) of Glandŵr, which enabled him in 1777 to join Abergavenny Academy. His call to move to Maes-yr-Onnen in 1781 livened up the local church considerably. He then began extending his influence, preaching and establishing new churches in the Llansantffraid area. Thomas Jefferson Bowen (1814–1875) was an American expatriate Baptist missionary who spent considerable time of his missionary activities in Ijaye, Ogbomosho and a few other towns within the present Oyo State. His work established the foundation of the Baptist mission in Nigeria. Bowen's intention to proselytize to Africans in the interior in particular the Fulanis was stopped by the Emir of Ilorin, Bowen then concentrated his effort in Yorubaland until his return to America. Bowen Technique
The Bowen technique (or Bowen therapy) is an alternative type of physical manipulation named after Australian Thomas Ambrose Bowen (Tom Bowen) (1916–1982). There is no clear evidence that the technique is a useful medical intervention. History Bowen had no formal medical training and described his approach as a "gift from God". He referred to himself as an osteopath and tried to join the Australian register of osteopaths in 1981 but did not qualify for the title. He died as an unlicensed practitioner of manual therapy. In 1973 Bowen himself had referred to his ability to "average 65 patients per day", yet the technique as it is commonly practiced today is unlikely to achieve that volume. Bowen did not document his technique, so its practice after his death has followed one or other differing interpretation of his work. Tom Bowen (born 31 January 1993) is an English rugby union player. Brighton born, Bowen took up rugby at the age of six in Lewes. Bowen joined Plymouth Albion in 2012 from Leicester Tigers, originally a centre, he switched to the wing, and scored 6 tries in his first 18 appearances in the RFU Championship, becoming Plymouth’s young player of the season for 2 seasons consecutively. White Lies are an English post-punk revival band from Ealing, London. Formerly known as Fear of Flying, the core band members are Harry McVeigh (lead vocals, guitar), Charles Cave (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums). The band performs live as a five-piece, when they are joined by Tommy Bowen and Rob Lee. White Lies formed in October 2007, after writing songs that they felt didn't suit their original band.
