Toei Superheroes
Toei Superheroes are superhero shows produced by Toei Company, a company that has done the largest number of live-action tokusatsu superhero shows in Japan. Many of the Toei Superheroes were featured in the video special ''Toei 100 Great Hero Super Fight'' (東映100大ヒーロー スーパーファイト) released on July 21, 1986. Some of the series are said to be created by Saburo Yatsude (八手三郎), not an actual person, but a collective pseudonym for the staff of Toei (similar to Hajime Yatate, a name used by the staff of the Sunrise division of Japanese animation company Bandai Namco Filmworks). Others were created by Shotaro Ishinomori, which includes '' Kamen Rider'', '' Gorenger'' and ''J.A.K.Q. Toei Company
() (also styled TOEI) is a Japanese film, television production, and distribution and video game developer and publishing company. Based in Tokyo, Toei owns and operates thirty-four movie theaters across Japan (all but two of them operated by its subsidiary, T-Joy), studios at Tokyo and Kyoto; and is a shareholder in several television companies. It is notable for creating animated programming known as anime, and live action dramas known as tokusatsu which use special visual effects. It also creates historical dramas (jidaigeki). Outside Japan, it is known as the controlling shareholder of Toei Animation and the owner of the '' Kamen Rider'' and ''Super Sentai'' franchises. Messenger Of Allah (TV Series)
''Messenger of Allah'', known in Japan as is a Japanese tokusatsu superhero TV series produced by Toei Company starring a young Sonny Chiba, at the time known as Shin'ichi Chiba. It was created by writer Yasunori Kawauchi, who was also responsible for creating ''Moonlight Mask'' and ''Seven Color Mask''. The series ran from July 7, 1960 to December 27, 1960 on NET (now TV Asahi) for a total of 26 episodes. Development After ''New Seven Color Mask'' ended its run, Shin'ichi Chiba continued on to star in Yasunori Kawauchi's swashbuckler adventure ''Messenger of Allah''. The series was inspired by creator Kawauchi's conversion to Islam in 1959. The title character was the basis for ''Warrior of Love Rainbowman'', which Kawauchi also created and wrote for, and also aired on NET. Seven Color Mask
is the name and title character of a tokusatsu TV series, later called . It was created by Kōhan Kawauchi, who also created ''Moonlight Mask''. This black-and-white, B&W TV show was the first superhero TV series by Toei Company, Toei Company Ltd. It was broadcast on TV Asahi, NET (now TV Asahi) from June 3, 1959 to June 30, 1960, with a total of 57 episodes divided into 7 segments. Aside from being Toei's first TV superhero show, this series was also the debut of actor Sonny Chiba, who was 19 at the time, who took over the title role from Susumu Namijima after Episode 32. Summary The hero of this series is a young detective named Kotarō Ran, unknown to anyone (even his friends), is a master of disguise, utilizing seven different personalities. Planet Prince
is a 1958 Japanese tokusatsu superhero television series created by Masaru Igami and produced by Senkosha, the series aired on NTV from November 4, 1958 to October 6, 1959, with a total of 49 episodes (comprising four separate adventures). It was created to capitalize on the success of Shintoho's Super Giant (Starman) movie series. In fact, the title hero (whose alter-ego was Waku-san, played by Toshio Mimura) bore a strong resemblance to Super Giant (known as "Starman" in the U.S.). The pair of Planet Prince theatrical featurettes, adapted from the Senkosha TV series, were produced by Toei Studios and filmed in black and white ToeiScope format. Toei produced two theatrical movies in 1959 that featured the Planet Prince character, but wearing a completely different, more streamlined costume (and goggled helmet) than the one worn in the tv series. Moonlight Mask
(a.k.a. ''The Moonbeam Man'') is a superhero appearing in Japanese tokusatsu and anime television shows and movies since his TV debut in 1958. The six theatrical films were made (between 1958-1959) in black and white/ToeiScope format. Created by writer Kōhan Kawauchi, Moonlight Mask is best described as Japan's answer to The Lone Ranger, Batman and Zorro. Moonlight Mask's popularity resulted in the appearance of several other Japanese superhero characters soon thereafter, including ''Iron Sharp'' a.k.a.
