Total prize money for the race is A$300,000. History The winner of this race receives automatic entry to the Australian Turf Club, ATC Golden Slipper Stakes and the race is considered an important prep test due to the same distance as the Golden Slipper Stakes. Rosehill Gardens Racecourse
The Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is located in the Western Sydney suburb of Rosehill, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is operated by the Australian Turf Club. Rosehill holds horse races for thoroughbred gallopers on a grass surface. It is one of the two premier racecourses in Sydney, the other one being Randwick Racecourse. One of the main events held at Rosehill is the Golden Slipper race for two-year-olds. The track has a circumference of with a home straight of . Luskin Star
Luskin Star (1974-2002) was a Thoroughbred racehorse and winner of the Australian two-year-old Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. Breeding The colt by Kaoru Star out of Promising (NZ) was consigned to the 1976 Sydney Easter Yearling Sales as Lot 734, but was passed in for $6,500 with a reserve of $8,000. He was later purchased by Newcastle trainer Max Lees for stable clients Mr and Mrs John Balcomb, Don Ninnes and Barry Barnett. His sire Kaoru Star was a son of Star Kingdom and grandson of Hyperion. Promising, the dam of Luskin Star, was bred in New Zealand and imported to Australia where she won two minor races at Newcastle and Wyong. Her sire Idomeneo is by the well-bred stallion Alycidon. Octagonal (8 October 1992 – 15 October 2016) was a champion New Zealand-bred, Australian raced Thoroughbred racehorse, also known as 'The Big O' or 'Occy'. He was by the champion sire Zabeel, out of the champion broodmare Eight Carat, who also produced Group One winners Mouawad, Kaapstad, Diamond Lover and (Our) Marquise. Exceed And Excel (foaled 5 September 2000) is a retired multiple Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. After his racing career ended he has been successful as a breeding stallion, having sired over 150 Stakes winners. Background The colt was purchased at the 2002 Inglis Easter yearling sale by his trainer Tim Martin. Martin had previously never paid more than $30,000 for a horse but purchased him for A$375,000. At the time, he had no future owner in line for the horse. After what Martin described as a "scary" two weeks, he drew Sydney lawyer Alan Osburg into a 50% interest while the remaining equity was later taken by businessman Nick Moraitis. Written Tycoon (foaled 6 September 2002) is a stakes winning Australian Thoroughbred racehorse and successful sire who has sired multiple Group 1 winners. Racing career Written Tycoon commenced his race career with an easy win at Randwick as a pronounced 7/4 favourite. Two weeks later, he was narrowly beaten by filly Fashions Afield at Randwick. Fashions Afield would later frank the form in claiming the Sires' Produce Stakes and Reisling Stakes. Background Yes Yes Yes was purchased by Darren Weir Racing/John Foote Bloodstock for $200,000 at the Magic Millions yearling sale. Racing career Yes Yes Yes made his debut at Moonee Valley on 1 December 2018, where he "ran on well" for a second. A fortnight later, he won his first race. Canterbury Park Racecourse is a racecourse for horse racing in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located 11 km (7 mi) from the Sydney Central Business District, in King Street in the suburb of Canterbury, adjacent to Canterbury railway station.
