Todd Wehr
C. Frederick "Todd" Wehr (April 14, 1889 -September 28, 1965) was an industrialist and philanthropist. He was co-founder of the Wehr Steel Company and founder of the Todd Wehr Foundation, Inc. Biography Wehr was a graduate of West Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and of Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. He and his brothers comprised the executive team of the Wehr Steel Company, which was founded in 1910 by his father, Henry Wehr. The company manufactured steel alloy castings for machine parts, magnetic separators, and brakes. During World War II, it received numerous "E" awards from the government for excellence in steel production. In 1958, when the company was re-organized as a division of the Wehr Corporation, Wehr became the chairman of the board, a position he held until his retirement in 1963. Marcus Center
The Marcus Performing Arts Center is a performing arts center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Managed by a non-profit organization, it is marketed as Milwaukee's premier presenter of the performing arts. It is located at 929 North Water Street, at the intersection of State Street in downtown Milwaukee, and is a dedicated War Memorial. Several local companies are resident partners of the Marcus Performing Arts Center, including the Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Ballet, First Stage Children's Theater, Black Arts MKE, and other local arts organizations, and it was also the home of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra from 1969 until 2020. Marian University is a Roman Catholic university in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. It was founded in 1936 by the Congregation of Sisters of Saint Agnes, which continues to sponsor the university today. Wehr Nature Center
Wehr Nature Center is a nature preserve located in Hales Corners, Wisconsin: it is part of Whitnall Park. It was named for philanthropist Todd Wehr whose foundation donated $200,000 USD to help build the center. History The center opened in 1974 and was made possible by a $200,000 USD grant from the Todd Wehr Foundation along with federal and state grants. The nature center was built on the site of a livestock trading center. In 2018 organizations raised funds to update the nature center to accommodate people with disabilities. Bathrooms, a boardwalk and a viewing deck were included in the updates to make the center more wheelchair accessible. De Pere
De Pere ( ) is a city located in Brown County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 25,410 according to the 2020 Census. De Pere is part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area. History At the arrival of the first European, Jean Nicolet, who visited the place in 1634–1635, De Pere was the site of a polyglot settlement of several thousand attracted by the fishing at the first rapids of the Fox River. In 1671 French Jesuit explorer Père Claude-Jean Allouez founded the St. Francis Xavier Mission at the last set of rapids on the Fox River before it enters The Bay of Green Bay. Ripon is a city in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,733 at the 2010 census. The city is surrounded by the Town of Ripon. Ripon is home to the Little White Schoolhouse, the commonly recognized birthplace of the Republican Party. History Founding Ripon was founded in 1849 by David P. Mapes, a former New York steamboat captain. Within two years the city had absorbed the nearby commune of Ceresco, established in 1844 by the Wisconsin Phalanx, a group of settlers inspired by the communitarian socialist philosophy of Charles Fourier.
