Todd Edward Johnson (born December 18, 1978) is an American former college and professional football player who was a safety in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons during the 2000s. Johnson played college football for the University of Florida, and thereafter, he played professionally for the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, and Buffalo Bills. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. The Florida Gators football program represents the University of Florida (UF) in American college football. Florida competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Mike Brown (born February 13, 1978) is an American former professional football player who was a safety for ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected with the eighth pick of the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft out of the University of Nebraska by the Chicago Bears. Brown was ranked #49 in ESPN Chicago's "50 Greatest Bears" poll in 2012. High school career Mike Brown graduated from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1996, where he played both football and baseball.
