Todd Dagenais
Todd Dagenais is an American college volleyball coach, former player, and author. Dagenais was named the first head coach of the Pro Volleyball Federation's Atlanta franchise. He was the head coach of the UCF Knights women's volleyball team of the University of Central Florida. for 15 years. He previously served as an assistant head coach at USC and MSU. Dagenais has released a series of book and DVD guides for volleyball. In 2019, Dagenais was announced as an inductee into the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame in his native Michigan. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. UCF Knights Women's Volleyball
The UCF Knights women's volleyball program represents the University of Central Florida in National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I. The Knights compete in the Big 12 Conference and play their home games on UCF's main campus in Orlando, Florida at The Venue at UCF. The Knights are currently led by head coach Jenny Maurer. History The Knights volleyball program began in 1975 under Lucy McDaniel, who would lead the team through the 1979 season. The Knights went 30–8–0 in their inaugural year. The highlight of McDaniel's tenure at UCF, and the women's volleyball program, was their 1978 perfect 55–0 season in which they won the Division II AIAW National Championship. In 1982, the team joined their first conference, the Sunshine State Conference, which they left following the 1983 season. Conference USA
Conference USA (C-USA or CUSA) is an intercollegiate athletic conference whose current member institutions are located within the Southern United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I in all sports. C-USA's offices are located in Dallas, Texas. History C-USA was founded in 1995 by the merger of the Metro Conference and Great Midwest Conference, two Division I conferences that did not sponsor football. However, the merger did not include either Great Midwest member Dayton or Metro members VCU and Virginia Tech. 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament
The 2014 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on December 4 and concluded on December 20 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The tournament field was announced on November 30. Penn State defeated BYU in the finals to win the school's 7th NCAA title. Qualifying teams The champions of the NCAA's 32 conferences qualify automatically. Twenty-two conferences hold tournaments, while the other ten award their automatic bid on the basis of being the league's regular-season champion. Those that do not hold tournaments are the American Athletic, Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Big Ten, Big West, Ivy League, Mountain West, Pac-12, Southeastern and West Coast Conferences.
