Toby Roland-Jones
Tobias Skelton Roland-Jones (born 29 January 1988) is an English cricketer. A medium-fast, right-arm bowler and a lower order right-handed batsman, Roland-Jones represents Middlesex in county cricket, and has represented England at Test and One Day International level. He was appointed as Middlesex club captain for the 2023 season. Early life and career Roland-Jones was born in Ashford now in Surrey but historically in Middlesex. County career On 23 September 2016, Roland-Jones took a hat-trick against Yorkshire to secure the County Championship for Middlesex for the first time in 23 years. He was named one of the Wisden 2017's Cricketers of the year. Ashford, Surrey
Ashford is a town almost wholly in the Borough of Spelthorne, Surrey, with a small area contained within the boundaries of the London Borough of Hounslow, approximately west-southwest of central London. Its name derives from a crossing point of the River Ash, a distributary of the River Colne. Historically part of Middlesex, the town's wards have been part of Surrey County Council since 1965. 2018 English Cricket Season
The 2018 English cricket season ran between 1 April and 27 September 2018 and was the 119th in which the County Championship has been an official competition. It featured first-class, one-day and Twenty20 cricket competitions throughout England and Wales. The season saw men's international tours by Pakistan, Australia and India, with Pakistan and India playing Test matches against England. The South African and New Zealand women's teams also toured England, each playing three One Day International matches against the England women's cricket team. The three teams also competed in the 2018 England women's Tri-Nation Series Twenty20 competition. In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five-for" or "fifer") refers to a bowler taking five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded as a significant achievement. As of 2022, 162 cricketers have taken a five-wicket haul on their debut in a Test match, with 49 of them being England players. Alfred Shaw was the first Englishman to take a five wicket haul at Test debut. He took five wickets for 38 runs in the first Test in history, against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in March 1877, but could not prevent England's defeat. Two Australian bowlers also picked up fifers in the same match. The most recent Englishman to achieve the feat was Rehan Ahmed. He took five wickets for 48 runs against Pakistan at Karachi in December 2022. Dominic Cork's seven wickets for 43 runs against West Indies in the second Test of the 1995 series are the best bowling figures for an Englishman on debut. Adil Usman Rashid (born 17 February 1988) is an English cricketer who plays for England in One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket, and previously played for the Test team. In domestic cricket, he represents Yorkshire, and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues, including for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. Old Trafford is a cricket ground in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England.
