Tiznow Stakes
The Tiznow Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race open to California-bred horses age four and older and contested on dirt at a distance of 1 Mile (8 furlongs). It has been run in late May at Santa Anita Park since 2014. Previously, it was held at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California, where it was run on Cushion Track synthetic dirt at furlongs. The race is named for Hall of Famer Tiznow, the only horse to win the Breeders' Cup Classic twice. Santa Anita Park
Santa Anita Park is a Thoroughbred racetrack in Arcadia, California, United States. It offers some of the prominent horse racing events in the United States during early fall, winter and in spring. The track is home to numerous prestigious races including both the Santa Anita Derby and the Santa Anita Handicap as well as hosting the Breeders' Cup in 1986, 1993, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2023. Brice Blanc
Brice Blanc (born January 16, 1973 in Lyon, Rhone, France) is a jockey in American thoroughbred horse racing. Blanc attended a jockey's apprentice school in his native France then, encouraged by trainer Ben Cecil, in October 1993 emigrated to the United States where he settled in Southern California and began racing at area tracks. He competed primarily at Del Mar Racetrack, Hollywood Park Racetrack and Santa Anita Park but also won races at various other North American racetracks including Arlington Park in Chicago, Gulfstream Park in Florida, and Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Neil Drysdale
Neil D. Drysdale (born 11 December 1947, Haslemere, Surrey, England) is an American-based thoroughbred race horse trainer. Based in Playa Del Rey, California, he has won two Triple Crown races – the Belmont Stakes (G1) with A.P. Indy in 1992 and the Kentucky Derby (G1) with Fusaichi Pegasus in 2000. He was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2000. Career Born in Haslemere, Surrey, his father was a Royal Marine who served with the U.S. Marines in Korea. Drysdale studied at the University of Barcelona, and then taught English as a foreign language - but then switched his mind to horses. He moved to Florida to work with show horses, and then became involved with racing thoroughbreds, spending two years with John Hartigan at Tartan Farms in Ocala, Florida. ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb ( ar, عمر بن الخطاب, also spelled Omar, ) was the second Rashidun caliph, ruling from August 634 until his assassination in 644.
