Battle Of Tippecanoe
The Battle of Tippecanoe ( ) was fought on November 7, 1811, in Battle Ground, Indiana, between American forces led by then Governor William Henry Harrison of the Indiana Territory and Native American forces associated with Shawnee leader Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa (commonly known as "The Prophet"), leaders of a confederacy of various tribes who opposed European-American settlement of the American frontier. As tensions and violence increased, Governor Harrison marched with an army of about 1,000 men to attack the confederacy's headquarters at Prophetstown, near the confluence of the Tippecanoe River and the Wabash River. Tecumseh was not yet ready to oppose the United States by force and was away recruiting allies when Harrison's army arrived. Tipp City, Ohio
Tipp City is a city in Miami County, Ohio, United States just outside Dayton. The population was 9,689 at the 2010 census. Formerly known as Tippecanoe, and then Tippecanoe City. Later, it was renamed to Tipp City in 1938 because another town in Ohio was likewise named Tippecanoe. The city lies in the Miami Valley and sits along Interstate 75 near the Interstate 70 interchange. Tipp City is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Tippecanoe County Courthouse
The Tippecanoe County Courthouse is located on the public square in the city of Lafayette in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. The public square is located between the north-south 3rd and 4th Streets and between the east-west Main and Columbia Streets. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It is located in the Downtown Lafayette Historic District. History When the county was first organized in 1826, rooms were rented in which to conduct county business, until 1829 when the first courthouse was built; it was a two-story brick building. It was replaced by a larger brick building in 1845 at a cost of about $3,000; there was a fire in this building in the 1840s, but it was extinguished before it could do any damage. Tippecanoe Battlefield Park
The Tippecanoe Battlefield Park preserves the location of the Battle of Tippecanoe fought on November 7, 1811. The site of the battle was deeded to the State of Indiana by John Tipton, a veteran of the fight, on November 7, 1836, the twenty-fifth anniversary of the battle. Tippecanoe Lake is a large, glacially created lake in Leesburg, Kosciusko County, Indiana and, at 123 feet deep, is the deepest natural lake in the state. Location Tippecanoe Lake is about two miles west of the town of North Webster, Indiana, and Webster Lake with the small unincorporated area of Oswego (now located in Leesburg, Indiana) located near its west-northwestern shore. Tippecanoe High School is a public high school in Tipp City, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. It is the only high school in the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools district. According to US News 2016 Ranking of High Schools, Tippecanoe High School is 95th in Ohio and 1919th in the US. The mascot of the school is the Red Devil.
