''Tip of the Iceberg'' is the second EP by American rock band New Found Glory, released on April 29, 2008 through independent label Bridge Nine Records. The release includes three original tracks and three covers of classic melodic hardcore bands Gorilla Biscuits, Shelter and Lifetime. Release On February 23, 2008, ''Tip of the Iceberg'' was announced for release in two months' time; alongside this, the track listing for it and the accompanying album from the International Superheroes of Hardcore were posted online. On April 10, 2008, "Tip of the Iceberg" was posted on the band's Myspace profile. A launch show was held on May 19, 2008 at Safari Sam's in Los Angeles, California. That same day, the music video for "Dig My Own Grave" was posted online. New Found Glory
New Found Glory (formerly A New Found Glory) is an American rock band from Coral Springs, Florida, formed in 1997. The band currently consists of Jordan Pundik (lead vocals), Ian Grushka (bass guitar), Chad Gilbert (lead guitar, backing vocals), and Cyrus Bolooki (drums). Longtime rhythm guitarist and lyricist Steve Klein left the band in late 2013. During their lengthy recording career, the band have released ten studio albums, one live album, two EPs, and four cover albums. After forming in 1997, New Found Glory released their debut studio album '' Nothing Gold Can Stay'' in 1999. The band then released their self-titled major label debut in 2000, with the album's song " Hit or Miss" peaking at number 15 the Alternative Songs chart. Bridge 9 Records is an American hardcore punk record label located outside Boston, Massachusetts. Bridge Nine is owned by Chris Wrenn of Salem, Massachusetts, who began the label in 1995 and produced its first release in 1996. The label is named as a metaphor for what Wrenn wanted to do in creating the label: bridge all parts of the hardcore scene into one label and then put his lucky number (nine) in the title. "Jóga" is a song recorded by Icelandic singer, songwriter and actress Björk for her third studio album, ''Homogenic'' (1997). Lifetime (band)
Lifetime is an American punk rock band from New Jersey. The band was formed in 1990 and disbanded in 1997. In late 2005, they announced their reunion. History The band was formed in 1990 by singer Ari Katz (ex-Enuf) and guitarist Dan Yemin with its roots in the New York/New Jersey hardcore scene. They are known to have met and lived in New Brunswick, New Jersey during this time. In contrast to the negative, sometimes violent tone promulgated by their New York hardcore contemporaries, lyricist Katz emphasized more positive, personal themes in their two-minute songs. In 1993, Lifetime released their first full-length album, titled ''Background'', that bore only passing resemblance to their later, more melodic work. Shelter (band)
Shelter is a Hare Krishna hardcore punk band, formed by Youth of Today vocalist Ray Cappo in 1991. Because of the religious Hindu-oriented messages in its lyrics, Shelter's subgenre has been dubbed by some as krishnacore. Recent history In 2001, the band released the album ''The Purpose, The Passion''. In 2002, with a new drummer and a new guitarist, the band toured Europe and the eastern United States again in support of ''The Purpose, The Passion'', before going on extended hiatus. In 2005, vocalist Ray Cappo recorded a new 11-track album entitled ''Eternal'' with 10 new songs and a remake of the song "In Defense of Reality". ''Eternal'' was released in May 2006 by Good Life Recordings. Cappo also did a European tour with a few members of Dutch hardcore bands functioning as the band. Gorilla Biscuits are an American hardcore punk band from New York City, New York, United States, formed in 1986. The band currently consists of Anthony "Civ" Civarelli, Walter Schreifels, Arthur Smilios and Luke Abbey, and is signed to Revelation Records. Melodic Hardcore
Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar work. It generally incorporates fast rhythms, melodic and often distorted guitar riffs, and vocal styles tending towards shouting and screaming. Nevertheless, the genre has been very diverse, with different bands showcasing very different styles.
