Tina Bursill
Tina Bursill (born 24 July 1951) is an Australian actress. She played Louise Carter on the television series '' Skyways'' (1979–1981) and Sonia Stevens on ''Prisoner'' (1983–1984). She played Meryl Knight in the Nine Network drama series '' Doctor Doctor''. Bursill won the AFI (AACTA) Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 1987 film '' Jilted''. Life and career Tina Bursill was born on the 24 July 1951 in Sydney. Initially, she intended to pursue a career in anthropology, however, she set her sights on becoming an actress. She studied drama at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and graduated in 1971. Bursill started her career in musicals and stand-up comedy, before being cast in more serious roles in theatre. Bursill made her acting debut in 1973 appearing in the lead role of short-lived comedy series ''The People Next Door'' as Meg Penrose. ''Skyways'' is an Australian television soap opera drama series made by Crawford Productions for the Seven Network. Production and casting The series, which aired from 1979 to 1981, was set at the fictional Pacific International Airport and dealt with the lives of the pilots, airline staff and management team who worked there. ''Skyways'' was mainly taped in a television studio where, in many interior-set scenes, Colour Separation Overlay created the illusion of a bustling airport with taxiing planes outside the window. Many of the exterior scenes were shot on location at Melbourne Airport. ''The Goddess of 1967'' is a 2000 Australian film directed by Macau-born Australian Clara Law, who wrote the script with her husband (and previous script collaborator) Eddie Ling-Ching Fong. The film is about a rich young Japanese man (Rikiya Kurokawa), who travels to Australia with the intention of buying a Citroën DS car (the goddess of the film's title - nicknamed the ''Déesse'', after its initials in French, ''déesse'' being French for "goddess") that he has found for sale on the internet. Production Screenwriter Denis Whitburn had written a play called ''The Siege of Frank Sinatra'' in which Max Cullen had starred in its original 1980 production.
