Timorese Nationalist Party
The Timorese Nationalist Party ( id, Partai Nasionalis Timor; pt, Partido Nacionalista Timorense; PNT) is a political party in East Timor. Founder and President is Abílio Araújo, who was FRETILIN representative overseas during the Indonesian occupation until his dismissal in 1993. Prior to the 1999 East Timorese independence referendum, the PNT advocated an autonomy solution rather than independence from Indonesia. In terms of orientation, it is referred to as ''progressive national''. Indonesian was to remain the official language and the Indonesian rupiah as the currency. Araújo criticized the then President Xanana Gusmão's decision to make Portuguese the official language and in this context repeatedly referred to Gusmão's and José Ramos-Horta's Portuguese roots. An important point in the policy of the PNT is the close friendly relationship with Indonesia. Here it works with the Indonesian party PDI-P. East Timorese Parliamentary Election, 2001
East or Orient is one of the four cardinal directions or points of the compass. It is the opposite direction from west and is the direction from which the Sun rises on the Earth. Etymology As in other languages, the word is formed from the fact that east is the direction where the Sun rises: ''east'' comes from Middle English ''est'', from Old English ''ēast'', which itself comes from the Proto-Germanic *''aus-to-'' or *''austra-'' "east, toward the sunrise", from Proto-Indo-European *aus- "to shine," or "dawn", cognate with Old High German ''*ōstar'' "to the east", Latin ''aurora'' 'dawn', and Greek ''ēōs'' 'dawn, east'. Examples of the same formation in other languages include Latin oriens 'east, sunrise' from orior 'to rise, to originate', Greek ανατολή anatolé 'east' from ἀνατέλλω 'to rise' and Hebrew מִזְרָח mizraḥ 'east' from זָרַח zaraḥ 'to rise, to shine'. ''Ēostre'', a Germanic goddess of dawn, might have been a personification ...
