TV-am
TV-am was a TV company that broadcast the ITV franchise for breakfast television in the United Kingdom from 1 February 1983 until 31 December 1992. The station was the UK's first national operator of a commercial breakfast television franchise. Its daily broadcasts were between 6 am and 9:25 am. Throughout its nine years and 10 months of broadcast, the station regularly had problems, resulting in numerous management changes, especially in its early years. It also suffered from major financial cutbacks hampering its operations. Though on a stable footing by 1986 and winning its ratings battle with BBC '' Breakfast Time'', within a year further, turmoil had ensued when industrial action hit the company. Wincey Willis

She is perhaps best known for being part of the line up at TV-am, the UK's first national operator of a commercial breakfast television franchise. Early life and education Willis was born in Gateshead, County Durham. She grew up in Hartlepool and Barnard Castle. She was adopted by older parents, for whom she was an only child. In 2011, Willis said that she had never attempted to find her birth parents. ''Wide Awake Club'' (often abbreviated to ''WAC'') was a children's television series broadcast in the United Kingdom on the breakfast television channel TV-am between 1984 and 1989. History ''Wide Awake Club'' started on Saturday 13 October 1984, broadcasting for an hour each Saturday morning at 8.30 am as TVAM Flagship kids series. The series was devised by producer Nick Wilson, replacing '' Data Run'' and SPLAT which were created by Ragdoll's Anne Wood then as Head of Children's Programmes. The change to Wide awake club was part of the cost cutting by management. John Stapleton (English Journalist)
John Martin Stapleton (born 24 February 1946) is an English journalist and broadcaster. He is known for his work as a presenter and reporter on ITV breakfast television (''TV-am'', ''GMTV'' and '' Daybreak'') in addition to hosting '' Nationwide'' and ''Watchdog'' for the BBC. He won the Royal Television Society's News Presenter of the Year award for 2003, and was married to the late presenter Lynn Faulds Wood. Together they presented ''Watchdog'' between 1985 and 1993. A Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) assassination attempt against members of the British government took place on 12 October 1984 at the Grand Hotel in Brighton, East Sussex, England, United Kingdom. Bruce Gyngell
Bruce Gyngell AO (8 July 1929 – 7 September 2000) was an Australian television executive, active for more than 40 years in both Australian and UK television. Although Gyngell began his career in radio, in the 1950s he stepped into the arena of early television broadcasting, helping to set up Channel 9, the first commercial TV station in Australia.
