Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway and All-American Road in the United States, noted for its scenic beauty. Southern Highland Craft Guild
Southern Highland Craft Guild is a guild craft organization that has partnered with the National Park Service for over seventy years. The Guild represents over 800 craftspeople in 293 counties of 9 southeastern states. It operates four retail craft shops and two annual craft expositions which represents the Guild members' work. These expositions occur in July and October and have taken place in the Appalachian mountain region since 1948. Memorial Stadium (Asheville)
Memorial Stadium is a multi-use stadium located in Asheville, North Carolina. The stadium was completed in 1925 to serve as a regional athletic and special events facility. Memorial Stadium is not to be confused with the similarly named Asheville High School Memorial Stadium. Memorial Stadium's entrance was originally intended to serve as a memorial to Western North Carolina's war veterans but the memorial was never entirely completed. Recently plans have been set afoot to complete the memorial. As part of a large scale renovation of the facility which included the installation of a new artificial turf playing surface, there are plans to move a World War II memorial onto the site. The Jackson Building is a 140 ft (43m) 15-story building in Asheville, North Carolina And is owned by the Blaney Estate such was completed in 1924 in Pack Square downtown. It was the first skyscraper in western North Carolina. History The site chosen by developer Lynwood B. Jackson for western North Carolina's first skyscraper was previously that of the tombstone business operated by Thomas Wolfe's father. It was only 27 by 60 feet and believed to be too small for a skyscraper, but it now holds the record for tallest building on the smallest lot. Jackson hired architect Ronald Greene. Jackson built the city's first skyscraper because he believed in Asheville's real estate market. The Neo-Gothic building was fully occupied when it opened in 1924.
