Timber (1942 Film)
''Timber'' is a 1942 drama film directed by Christy Cabanne. Its plot concerns the obstruction of lumber-mill production for Canada's Department of National Defence during World War II. Plot Jules Fabian heads a gang of saboteurs determined to subvert the Canadian Forestry Corps. Quebec, Arizona and Kansas, three men who begin work at a lumber company, uncover the plot. Kansas, who in reality is working undercover for the corps, romances Yvette Lacour. Christy Cabanne
William Christy Cabanne (April 16, 1888 – October 15, 1950) was an American film director, screenwriter, and silent film actor. Biography Born in 1888, Cabanne (pronounced CAB-a-nay) started his career on stage as an actor and director. He appeared on-screen in dozens of short films between 1911 and 1915. He gradually became a film director and in fact one of the more prolific directors of his time (see filmography below). He signed on with the Fine Arts Film Company and was employed as an assistant to D.W. Griffith. Miriam Cooper credited him with discovering her as an extra in 1912. Wade Boteler (October 3, 1888 – May 7, 1943) was an American film actor and writer. He appeared in more than 430 films between 1919 and 1943. Biography He was born in Santa Ana, California, and died in Hollywood, California, from a heart attack. Boteler graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After he graduated, he stayed there as a director until he joined the Army in World War I. For three years in the mid-1920s, he worked for Douglas MacLean's film company as both actor and writer. Nestor Paiva (June 30, 1905 – September 9, 1966) was an American actor of Portuguese descent. He is most famous for his recurring role of Teo Gonzales the innkeeper in Walt Disney's Spanish Western series ''Zorro'' and its feature film ''The Sign of Zorro'', as well as Lucas the boat captain in ''Creature from the Black Lagoon'' and its sequel ''Revenge of the Creature''. Early years Paiva attended the University of California. During his senior year, he directed a production, ''The Youngest'', after the previous director resigned because of sickness. Career In the early 1930s, Paiva was director of the Eight o'Clock Players troupe at KLX radio in Oakland, California. Marjorie Lord (née Wollenberg; July 26, 1918 – November 28, 2015) was an American television and film actress. She played Kathy "Clancy" O'Hara Williams, opposite Danny Thomas's character on ''The Danny Thomas Show'' (also known as ''Make Room for Daddy)''.
