Tim Simpson (American Football)
Timothy James Simpson (born March 5, 1969) is a former American football offensive guard who played one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the twelfth round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Simpson was also a member of the New York Jets, London Monarchs, Peoria Pirates and Bloomington Edge. Early years Simpson played high school football at East Peoria High School in East Peoria, Illinois. He was a four-year starter for the Red Raiders as well as a two-time All-Conference and All-State selection. He also participated in wrestling, compiling a record of 157–4, including 3rd and 4th place IHSA state finishes. Simpson was inducted the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. Champions Professional Indoor Football League
The Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) was an indoor football minor league based along the Midwestern United States region. The league began play in February 2013. In August 2014, the CPIFL and Lone Star Football League (LSFL) completed a merger to form Champions Indoor Football (CIF) and began play in 2015. Season structure During the off-season, teams held open tryouts for free-agent players to earn invites to pre-season camps. Free agent tryouts ranged from October to January depending on the individual team. Pre-season typically ran the duration of February and could involve exhibition games with teams inside the league or outside teams in other indoor football leagues. The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. East Peoria is a city in Tazewell County, Illinois, United States. The population was 23,402 at the 2010 census.
