Tim Friese-Greene
Timothy Alan Friese-Greene is an English musician and producer. He worked with the band Talk Talk from 1983 to their breakup in 1991. He currently releases solo albums under the name "Heligoland". He is the grandson of filmmaker Claude Friese-Greene and great-grandson of photographer and inventor William Friese-Greene. Career He started his career as a tape-operator at Wessex Sound Studios in London in the mid 1970s before rapidly becoming an engineer, working with artists including Hawkwind and The Rumour. Producer Friese-Greene co-produced the second release of Thomas Dolby's ''The Golden Age of Wireless'' (1982), which included the "She Blinded Me with Science" single, and Blue Zoo's debut album '' Two by Two'' (1983). "Fantasy Island" is a song by Dutch pop group The Millionaires, released as a single in March 1982. It was a top-40 hit in the Netherlands; however, the song is better known for the version released a month later by Tight Fit. Background The Millionaires participated with "Fantasy Island" (in Dutch "Fantasie eiland") at the 1982 Nationaal Songfestival, which decided who was going to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest. Tinnitus
Tinnitus is the perception of sound when no corresponding external sound is present. Nearly everyone experiences a faint "normal tinnitus" in a completely quiet room; but it is of concern only if it is bothersome, interferes with normal hearing, or is associated with other problems. While often described as a ringing, it may also sound like a clicking, buzzing, hissing or roaring. Wishville
''Wishville'' is the fifth and final studio album by English alternative rock band Catherine Wheel, released 23 May 2000 by Columbia Records. It was the band's only album not to feature bassist Dave Hawes, who was fired prior to its recording. Without a permanent bassist, the band focused on guitar-centered hard rock arrangements. The album's only single was "Sparks Are Gonna Fly". Release ''Wishville'' was also released in a deluxe edition featuring special packaging and a second CD of live recordings, recorded live 11 July 2000 in New York. Reception ''Wishville'' has received a mixed-to-negative reaction from critics. ''Ferment'' is the debut studio album by English alternative rock band Catherine Wheel, released 9 June 1992 by Fontana Records. Produced by Tim Friese-Greene and John Lee, the album combined aspects of shoegazing, alternative rock and neo psychedelia. Ferment is the only album to contain the neo psychedelia element of the bands discography. Their next album, ''Chrome'', produced with famed alternative rock producer Gil Norton, shifted the musical direction of the band. While Ferment was originally not all that successful in the charts, the album continues to be well received by critics and fans, even 30 years after its release. Catherine Wheel (band)
Catherine Wheel were an English alternative rock band from Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. The band was active from 1990 to 2000, releasing five full-length albums in their career, embarking on many lengthy tours and experiencing fluctuating levels of commercial success. Brian Kennedy (singer)
Brian Edward Patrick Kennedy (born 12 October 1966) is a Northern Irish singer. He scored a number of hit singles and albums in the UK and Ireland during the 1990s and 2000s. He represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 and finished in 10th place. Brian is the younger brother of the late musician Bap Kennedy. ''Laughing Stock'' is the fifth and final studio album by English band Talk Talk, released in 1991. Following their previous release ''Spirit of Eden'' (1988), bassist Paul Webb left the group, which reduced Talk Talk to the duo of singer/multi-instrumentalist Mark Hollis (musician), Mark Hollis and drummer Lee Harris (drummer), Lee Harris. Talk Talk then acrimoniously left EMI and signed to Polydor who released the album on their newly revitalised jazz-based Verve Records label. ''Spirit of Eden'' is the fourth studio album by English band Talk Talk, released in 1988 on Parlophone Records. The songs were written by vocalist Mark Hollis and producer Tim Friese-Greene and the album was compiled from a lengthy recording process at London's Wessex Studios between 1987 and 1988. Often working in darkness, the band recorded many hours of improvised performances that drew on elements of jazz, ambient, blues, classical music, and dub. These long-form recordings were then heavily edited and re-arranged into an album in mostly digital format. ''The Colour of Spring'' is the third studio album by English band Talk Talk, released on 17 February 1986. Written by Mark Hollis and producer Tim Friese-Greene, the album combines elements of jazz and art pop in an effort by Hollis to embrace more organic instrumentation and production values. It's My Life (album)
''It's My Life'' is the second studio album by English band Talk Talk, released in 1984. Recording Mike Oldfield's bass player, Phil Spalding made an uncredited appearance on the album, substituting for Paul Webb on "The Last Time" – "Paul was exclusively a fretless bass player and they needed a fretted bass on this particular track." Sweetness And Light (EP)
''Sweetness and Light'' is the second extended play by the English alternative rock band Lush. It was released on 15 October 1990 on 4AD. Featuring a less abrasive sound than the band's earlier releases, the title track was also released as Lush's first single and included the B-side "Breeze". Tim Friese-Greene produced ''Sweetness and Light'' over a six-week period at the Greenhouse and Wessex Sound Studios in London. The recording sessions took considerably longer than Lush's previous sessions with Robin Guthrie and John Fryer, but resulted in a more atmospheric dream pop sound. ''Sweetness and Light'' received mixed reviews upon release, but led to Lush's first major headlining national tour and placed in the national charts.
