Tim Douwsma
Tim Douwsma (born 4 November 1987) is a Dutch singer. In 2007, he participated in the talent show '' So You Wanna Be a Popstar'' on Dutch television channel SBS 6. Career Douwsma was born in Drachten, Friesland, Netherlands. After graduation from high school, he studied at the CIOS, a sports training school, but stopped his training to focus more on a singing and acting career, as well as briefly modeling. In 2007, he took part in ''So You Wanna Be a Popstar'' finishing fifth overall. At the end of 2007, he recorded his debut single "Wil je bij me blijven slapen op" that reached No. 18 on the Single Top 100. Signing with Roadstar Agency in February 2008, in April 2009, released his second single "Ga", written by Joost Griffioen and Ray Klaassen (The Rocketeers). In late 2009, Tim landed a small role as Melle in the film ''De Hel van '63'', directed by Steven de Jong. Emmen, Netherlands
Emmen () is a municipality and town of the province of Drenthe in the northeastern Netherlands. History A planned city, Emmen arose from several small farming and peat-harvesting communities which have dotted the province of Drenthe since the Middle Ages. Traces of these communities can still be seen in the form of the villages of Westenesch, Noordbarge and Zuidbarge: they have a separate history and layout but are surrounded by the suburbs and the center of Emmen. ''Beste Zangers'', formerly ''De beste zangers van Nederland'' (English: ''The Best Singers (of the Netherlands)''), is a Dutch reality television show by public broadcaster AVROTROS (a merger of AVRO and TROS, both part of the Netherlands Public Broadcasting). The first series was aired between 5 July and 30 August 2009 and was hosted by Edsilia Rombley. She was first replaced by singer and actor Victor Reinier (2010, 2011) before Jan Smit (singer), Jan Smit became the permanent host from 2012 to 2019. In each series a number of well-known performers take turns as the central artist in the hot seat that gets honoured by the other artists by singing songs that are of significance to that person. ''Popstars'' is an international reality television franchise aimed to find new singing talent. Serving as a precursor to the ''Idol'' franchise, ''Popstars'' first began in New Zealand in 1999 when producer Jonathan Dowling formed the girl group TrueBliss. Monique Smit
Margaret Gertrude Mary (Monique) Smit (born 9 April 1989) is a Dutch singer and television presenter. Early life Monique grew up in Volendam as the younger sister of Jan Smit. After finishing school, she attended Don Bosco College, and later became a hairdresser. Career Smit participated in her brother's reality series ''Gewoon Jan Smit''. She presented the show ''Zapp Kids Top 20'' for TROS and ''Wild van Muziek'' broadcast on Sterren 24. ''The Voice of Holland'', also known as ''TVOH'', is a Dutch reality TV singing competition, that became a near global TV format franchise, created by media tycoon John de Mol and musician Roel van Velzen, in the Netherlands airing on RTL 4. For the first nine seasons, The Voice of Holland was hosted by Martijn Krabbé and Wendy van Dijk. Starting from the tenth season (2019–2020), Wendy van Dijk was replaced by Chantal Janzen. Drachten () is a town in the northern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Smallingerland, Friesland. It had a population of around 45,186 in January 2017 and is the second largest town in the province of Friesland. History Beginnings Drachten began as a small community on the east side of the Drait (or Dracht) river. There, early settlers started draining the land to use it for agriculture. As the process of draining progressed, residents began to move further eastward in order to use the drained land—former peatbogs—for agriculture. Around 1200 A.D., a small stone church was built. It was used for 200 years afterward, until rising waters drove people even further east. By 1550 the Dutch peat reserve had been exhausted.
