Tim Coghlin
Tim Coghlin (born March 24, 1964) is a college men's ice hockey coach. He has been the men's ice hockey head coach at St. Norbert College since 1994. Hockey player Coghlin grew up in western Canada and enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. He was the captain of the 1989 Stevens Point team that won the NCAA Division III national championship for the first time in school history. He was twice selected as an All-American defenseman. Coghlin signed with the Vancouver Canucks in October 1989, and was assigned to the Milwaukee Admirals for the remainder of the year, though he didn't appear in any games. He injured his shoulder in training camp the following fall and ended up missing the entire season. In 1990, he played for the Fife Flyers as a player and assistant coach. Goal (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team. The 1987–88 NCAA Division III men's ice hockey season began in October 1987 and concluded on March 25 of the following year. This was the 15th season of Division III college ice hockey. In 1990 the NCAA ruled that Plattsburgh State had violated regulations by allowing some of their players to reside in houses owned by people invested in the ice hockey program and were provided with some measure of benefits including free housing, free meals and cash loans. Because these violations occurred between 1985 and 1988 Plattsburgh State's participation in all NCAA games during that time was vacated. Merrimack became the first non- Division I program to receive a bid to the Division I Tournament. As of 2019 no other school outside the top tier has made an appearance in the national championship. The 1986–87 NCAA Division III men's ice hockey season began in November 1986 and concluded on March 21 of the following year. This was the 14th season of Division III college ice hockey. In 1990 the NCAA ruled that Plattsburgh State had violated regulations by allowing some of their players to reside in houses owned by people invested in the ice hockey program and were provided with some measure of benefits including free housing, free meals and cash loans. Because these violations occurred between 1985 and 1988 Plattsburgh State's participation in all NCAA games during that time was vacated. As a result there is no NCAA champion for the 1987 season in Division III ice hockey. This is the only NCAA ice hockey championship to be rescinded (as of 2019). Wisconsin–Stevens Point Pointers
The University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point Pointers (casually known as the UW-Stevens Point Pointers) are the athletic teams of the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. The Pointers athletic teams compete in NCAA Division III. Football The UW-Stevens Point football team holds the annual Spud Bowl game sponsored by local potato farms and brewery companies as the first home game of the season. The Pointers also hold the annual Pink Game, which benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Central Wisconsin, and the Circle of Friends Foundation, which provides opportunities to kids with cancer. The 1985–86 NCAA Division III men's ice hockey season began in November 1985 and concluded on March 22 of the following year. This was the 13th season of Division III college ice hockey. Though ECAC 2 formally split into two separate conferences in 1985, all games played between ECAC East and ECAC West teams would count for their conference standings. This arrangement remained until 1992. ECAC 3, in order to prevent confusion with the other two Division III ECAC conferences, was renamed ECAC North/South and divided into two divisions (North and South). British Columbia Hockey League
The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league from British Columbia under Hockey Canada and BC Hockey. Founded in Vernon in 1961, the BCHL now includes 18 teams. From 1993 to 2021, the league was a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), an association of Junior A leagues across Canada that would play for the National Junior A Championship. The winner of the BCHL playoffs (Fred Page Cup) would continue on to play the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion in the Doyle Cup for the right to then compete in the National Junior A Championship. The Penticton Vees are a junior "A" ice hockey team from Penticton, British Columbia, Canada. They are a part of the British Columbia Hockey League. The junior Vees were founded in 1961, sharing the name of the senior hockey team, the Penticton Vees. History The Junior Vees were one of the inaugural teams in the Okanagan-Mainline Junior A Hockey League (OMJHL), launched in 1961. The league became the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCJHL) in 1967.
