Tim Child
Tim Child (born 1946) is a British television producer. A former TV news reporter and later development producer at Anglia Television, he is most notable for creating and producing the cult children's television programme ''Knightmare'', a fantasy role-playing adventure game which pioneered virtual studio or blue-screen production. Child additionally created '' Time Busters'' a location-based role-playing game for BBC, which pioneered the use of wearable broadcast-quality cameras and later ''Cyberzone'' which has some claims to being the world's first virtual reality gameshow, also for BBC. Knightmare
''Knightmare'' is a British children's adventure game show, created by Tim Child, and broadcast over eight series on CITV from 7 September 1987 to 11 November 1994. The general format of the show is of a team of four children – one who takes on the game, and three acting as their guide and advisers – attempting to complete a quest within a fantasy medieval environment, traversing a large dungeon and using their wits to overcome puzzles, obstacles and the unusual characters they meet along the journey. The show is most notable for its use of blue screen chroma key, an idea Child utilised upon seeing it being put to use in weather forecasts at the time the programme began, as well as its use of 'virtual reality' interactive gameplay on television and the high level of difficulty faced by every team. ''Time Busters'' is a British children's television series created by Tim Child and the same producers of ''Knightmare''. It was first shown on BBC2 from 17 January 1993 to 22 January 1995. The first two series were hosted by Michael Troughton Michael Troughton (born 2 March 1955) is an English actor, teacher and writer. He is best known for his television roles including Melish in ''Minder'' and Sir Piers Fletcher-Dervish in ''The New Statesman''. He is the son of actor Patrick Tro ..., with assistance from ''Buster'' - the on-board computer. For Series 3, ''Buster'' hosted 'himself'. Format Each run of the game involves a team of children taking a 'time-travelling' bus that drove you to a historical reenactment. The children would be involved in a quest to find a Time-Capsule. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. ITV was for four decades a network of separate companies which provided regional television services and also shared programmes between each other to be shown on the entire network.
