Tim Burke (gridiron Football)
Tim Burke is an American born Canadian football coach who was the defensive coordinator for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Burke was previously the head coach of the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Career Burke played running back for Luther College in Decorah, Iowa from 1974 to 1977. After graduating in 1977, Burke started his coaching career with the University of Minnesota. He later coached at University of South Dakota, University of North Dakota, Ball State University, University of Wyoming, Indiana State University, and University of Kansas. Running Back
A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. The primary roles of a running back are to receive American football plays#Offensive terminology, handoffs from the quarterback to Rush (American football)#Offense, rush the ball, to line up as a receiver to catch the ball, and Blocking (American football), block. There are usually one or two running backs on the field for a given play, depending on the offensive formation. Paul LaPolice
Paul LaPolice (born June 12, 1970) is a gridiron football coach who was most recently the head coach for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He is a two-time Grey Cup champion as an assistant coach, most recently in 107th Grey Cup, 2019 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the offensive coordinator. He formerly served as head coach for the Blue Bombers from 2010 to 2012, compiling a record of 16 wins and 28 losses. He has also worked as a broadcaster for The Sports Network, TSN. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a professional Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are currently members of the East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Tiger-Cats play their home games at Tim Hortons Field. In 1950, the Tigers merged with cross-town upstart Hamilton Wildcats and adopted the name "Tiger-Cats". The Grey Cup (french: Coupe Grey) is both the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the trophy awarded to the victorious team playing in the namesake championship of professional Canadian football. Marc Trestman
Marc Marlyn Trestman (born January 15, 1956) is an American football and Canadian football coach. He led the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) to back-to-back Grey Cup victories in 2009 and 2010, and another as head coach of the Toronto Argonauts in 2017. He was also named CFL Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2017. In addition, Trestman has served as a head coach, offensive coordinator and positions coach for a number of different teams, with the most notable of these tenures being a two-season stint as the head coach of the National Football League's Chicago Bears in 2013 and 2014. He played college football as a quarterback for three seasons with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, and one season at Minnesota State University Moorhead. 1998 Alamo Bowl
The 1998 Alamo Bowl featured the Kansas State Wildcats and the Purdue Boilermakers. The Wildcats came into the game fresh off a double overtime loss in the Big 12 Championship Game to the Texas A&M Aggies, which ruined their chance at a national championship in the Fiesta Bowl. With an experienced quarterback, Michael Bishop, the Heisman Trophy runner-up, and one of the best offenses and defenses in the country, the Wildcats were generally expected to have an easy bowl victory. The unranked Purdue Boilermakers finished fourth in the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermaker's starting quarterback Drew Brees, a sophomore, was a first-year starter and relatively inexperienced. The 1997 Alamo Bowl featured the 1997 Purdue Boilermakers football team, Purdue Boilermakers, and the 1997 Oklahoma State Cowboys football team, Oklahoma State Cowboys. Oklahoma State took an early 3–0 lead on a field goal. Purdue responded with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Billy Dicken, to take a 7–3 lead. The teams traded field goals before half time, and Purdue led 10–6 at halftime. In the second half, quarterback Billy Dicken rushed one yard for a touchdown increasing Purdue's lead to 17–6. The Alamo Bowl is an NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football bowl game played annually since 1993 in the Alamodome in San Antonio, San Antonio, Texas. Decorah is a city in and the county seat of Winneshiek County, Iowa, United States. The population was 7,587 at the time of the 2020 census.
