Tim B. Heaton
Tim B. Heaton (born December 1, 1949) is an American educator and sociologist. He has been called the leading expert on the demographics of Mormons. Heaton holds the Camilla Kimball Chair in the Department of Sociology at Brigham Young University (BYU). He has done research in both the United States on trends and sources of divorce and in Latin America on how the family characteristic effects the health of children. Heaton holds bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He did a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Heaton is the co-editor of ''Biodemography and Social Biology.'' Heaton also co-edited the ''Statistical Handbook of the Family'' with Bruce Chadwick. Brigham Young University
Brigham Young University (BYU, sometimes referred to colloquially as The Y) is a private research university in Provo, Utah. It was founded in 1875 by religious leader Brigham Young and is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). BYU offers a variety of academic programs including those in the liberal arts, engineering, agriculture, management, physical and mathematical sciences, nursing, and law. It has 186 undergraduate majors, 64 master's programs, and 26 doctoral programs. Bruce Chadwick (sociologist)
Bruce A. Chadwick is an emeritus professor of sociology at Brigham Young University (BYU). Chadwick has a Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. Chadwick was for a time director of BYU's Center for Studies of the Family. From 1992 to 1996 he did an exhaustive study along with Brent L. Top involving 4000 participants of religious affiliation and other actions of Latter-day Saint teens. Chadwick edited the ''Statistical Handbook on the American Family'' with Tim B. Heaton and the ''Statistical Handbook of Racial Groups in the United States'' with Heaton and Cardell K. Jacobsen both published by Oryx Press. He also co-authored many works on Muncie, Indiana as part of the Middletown Studies with Howard M. Marie Cornwall (born 1949) is the editor of the ''Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion'', a professor of sociology and women's studies at Brigham Young University (BYU) and a former director of BYU's Women's Research Institute. Biography Cornwall holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Utah, a master's degree in sociology from BYU and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Minnesota. Career Besides being a member of the BYU faculty Cornwall was also a visiting professor at the University of Utah for one year.
