Alfred Tilton
Alfred Tilton or Alfred Matisovich Tyltyn (russian: Альфред Матисович Тылтынь, lv, Alfrēds Tiltiņš; 4 March 1897 – 11 February 1942) was the head of Soviet Military Intelligence (GRU) in the United States in the late 1920s. He is best remembered for having recruited Latvian-American communist Nicholas Dozenberg to work for the GRU late in 1927. James Tilton
James Tilton (June 1, 1745 – May 14, 1822) was an American physician and soldier from Dover, Delaware. He was a delegate for Delaware in the Continental Congress of 1783 and 1784 and served as Surgeon General of the United States Army during the War of 1812. Early life James was born in 1745 to Thomas Tilton, a farmer in Kent County, Delaware. After attending the West Nottingham Academy in Cecil County, Maryland, he attended the College of Philadelphia, which later became the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1768 and earned a degree as a Doctor of Medicine in 1771. He started a medical practice at Dover and served as an infantry Lieutenant in Dover's Company of the Kent County militia. Tilton has been recognized as a pioneer in the development of IMAX large screen film format due to his work in the Omnimax format in the 1970s and 1980s. Roberta Elizabeth Odell Tilton (September 20, 1837 – May 28, 1925) was an American-born Canadian social reformer. She helped found the National Council of Women of Canada. The daughter of Daniel Ingalls Odell and Hannah Elizabeth Peavey, she was born Roberta Elizabeth Odell in Whiting, Maine. In 1858, she married John Tilton. Originally a businessperson in Saint John, New Brunswick, he came to Ottawa to join the federal civil service. Born a Unitarian, Tilton became an Anglican like her husband. In 1878, she was named first vice-president for the Ontario Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). Martha Tilton (November 14, 1915 – December 8, 2006) was an American popular singer during America's swing era and traditional pop period. She is best known for her 1939 recording of "And the Angels Sing" with Benny Goodman. Tilton was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, United States. Her family moved to Edna, Kansas, when she was three months old. They relocated to Los Angeles when she was seven years old. While attending Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, she was singing on a small radio station when she was heard by an agent who signed her and began booking her with larger stations. She then dropped out of school in the eleventh grade to join Hal Grayson's band.
