Tillie (film)
''Tillie'' is a 1922 American silent drama film directed by Frank Urson and starring Mary Miles Minter. The scenario was written by Alice Eyton, based on the novel ''Tillie, the Mennonite Maid'' by Helen Reimensnyder Martin. ''Tillie'' reunited Minter with Allan Forrest, her most frequent leading man from her time at Mutual Film and the American Film Company, for the first time since their 1919 picture Yvonne from Paris. As with many of Minter's features, ''Tillie'' is thought to be a lost film. Plot As described in various film magazine reviews, Tillie Getz (Minter) is a girl living in a community of Mennonites with her harsh father Jacob Getz (Beery), who treats her little better than a slave. Tillie longs for education and for an escape from the drudgery of her life, but only the kindly Doc Weaver (Littlefield) understands her ambitions. Frank Urson
Frank John Urson (March 21, 1887 – August 17, 1928) was an American silent film Film director, director and cinematographer from Chicago, Illinois. Originally a photographer, he moved on to cinematography and film directing for the Thanhouser Company in New Rochelle, New York. He is also credited with acting in one film, ''Her Gallant Knights'', which starred William Garwood in 1913. Urson directed ''Changing Husbands''. He is perhaps best known for his 1927 film ''Chicago (1927 film), Chicago'', produced by Cecil B. DeMille. Biography He was born on March 21, 1887, in Chicago, Illinois. Urson died on August 17, 1928, at age 41 from drowning in Indian Lake (Michigan), Indian Lake, Michigan. Robert Anderson (silent Film Actor)
Robert Christian Anderson (July 22, 1890 – June 25, 1963) was an American actor of Danish birth who appeared in silent films. Biography Anderson was born in Odense, Denmark. He was also a make-up artist and director (of one short). Anderson and D.W. Griffith were the principal makeup artists on Griffith's monumental classic ''Intolerance''. He later appeared in Griffith's World War I propaganda film ''Hearts of the World'' (1918). In addition to ''Hearts of the World'' Anderson can be seen today in surviving silent films such as ''The Heart of Humanity'' (1918) another World War I film where he played one of the Patricia brothers. He makes a noteworthy appearance alongside Lionel Barrymore in ''The Temptress'' (1926), Greta Garbo's second MGM film.
