Tiles (band)
Tiles is an American progressive rock band from Detroit, Michigan, United States. Tiles have released several albums on Inside Out Music and toured internationally since the release of their first album in 1994. History Tiles formed in 1993 and released a self-titled album the following year. This album was an international success, gaining notice in Europe and Japan, and the group signed with Inside Out Music, releasing a second album, ''Fence the Clear'', in 1997. Following the release of their third album, ''Presents of Mind'', in 1999, the group toured Europe as the opening act for Dream Theater. ''Window Dressing'', the band's fourth album, followed in 2004, and the 2008 release ''Fly Paper'' included guitar work by Rush's Alex Lifeson. The band's first live album, ''Off the Floor 01'', was released in 2012. Hugh Syme
Hugh Syme is a Canadian Juno Award-winning graphic artist and member of the Premier Artists Collection (PAC) who is best known for his artwork and cover concepts for rock and metal bands. He is also a musician and has appeared on some Rush albums as a keyboard player. Syme is notably responsible for all of Rush's album cover art since 1975's ''Caress of Steel'' as well as creating Rush's famous Starman logo. In 1983 he told Jeffrey Morgan that he never imagined the band would use it as their main logo. Syme also plays piano on the album ''Thrilling Women'', which Morgan recorded with Dean Motter. Terry Brown (record Producer)
Terry Brown is a British record producer involved in a variety of work. He has been noted for his involvement with the Canadian rock band Rush. Brown produced every album by the band from '' Fly by Night'' (1975) up to ''Signals'' (1982). He was also involved with the English pop rock band Cutting Crew, and the Canadian progressive rock band Klaatu. History Terry Brown is referred to fondly by the band Rush as "Broon" in the liner notes for their albums. This nickname appears in the title of the instrumental piece " Broon's Bane" from their live album '' Exit...Stage Left''. On this same record, Geddy Lee jokingly introduces the song "Jacob's Ladder" as having been written by "T. C. Broonsie", another reference to Brown and a pun on the name of Big Bill Broonzy. Mike Stern
Mike Stern (born January 10, 1953) is an American jazz guitarist. After playing with Blood, Sweat & Tears, he worked with drummer Billy Cobham, then with trumpeter Miles Davis from 1981 to 1983 and again in 1985. He then began a solo career, releasing more than a dozen albums. Stern was named Best Jazz Guitarist of 1993 by ''Guitar Player'' magazine. At the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in June 2007, he was given the Miles Davis Award, which was created to recognize internationally acclaimed jazz artists whose work has contributed significantly to the renewal of the genre. In 2009 Stern was listed on ''Down Beat''s list of 75 best jazz guitarists of all time. He received ''Guitar Player'' magazine's Certified Legend Award on January 21, 2012. Colin Edwin is an Australian musician, specialising in fretted and fretless guitar, fretless bass guitar, double bass and Sintir, guimbri. Edwin first came to public attention as a member of the British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, in which he was bass player from 1993 to 2011. Currently, Edwin is a member of Ex-Wise Heads, a long running collaboration with multi instrumentalist Geoff Leigh which mixes ethnic, ambient, and post-modern influences. He is also a member of metal-influenced project Random Noise Generator, and the bands Metallic Taste of Blood and progressive metal act O.R.k., as well as participating in numerous collaborations and releasing solo work. Adam Holzman (keyboardist)
Adam Holzman (born 15 February 1958 in New York City) is an American jazz keyboardist. He is the son of Elektra Records' founder Jac Holzman. Biography In the early 1980s, Holzman founded the Fents with Ted Hall. In 1985, he was hired by Miles Davis to play keyboards on the trumpeter's '' Tutu'' album, and stayed with him for four years, eventually becoming his musical director. He can be seen performing in the Davis concert video '' That's What Happened: Live in Germany 1987''.
