Tile Hill
Tile Hill is a suburb in the west of Coventry, West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England. It is mostly residential and partly industrial, with some common land and wooded areas. Tile Hill railway station is located on the West Coast Main Line which links Coventry with London and Birmingham, and is situated at the southwestern border with the city's Canley district and the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull. Geography Tile Hill is seated in the ancient Forest of Arden, and some remnants of the forest remain between the built up areas. Tile Hill Lane is flanked by Plants Hill Wood to the south and Pig Wood to the north. It is bounded by the districts of Lime Tree Park (to the east), Eastern Green (to the north) and Canley (to the south). Finham Park 2
Finham Park 2 is a secondary school and sixth form located on Torrington Avenue in Tile Hill, Coventry. It was founded on 1 September 2015 as a sequel school to the already existing Finham Park School, a secondary school and sixth form situated on Green Lane in Finham. In the seven years since its creation, the school has amassed 665 pupils, which is close to the original intended capacity of 800. The school's age range is 11-18, as alike Finham Park School, it has two optional years of sixth form past its five mandatory years of secondary schooling. Earlsdon
Earlsdon is a residential suburb and electoral ward of Coventry, England. It lies approximately one mile to the southwest of Coventry City Centre. It is the birthplace of aviation pioneer Frank Whittle. Amenities Most shops and restaurants are laid out on Earlsdon Street, the suburban high street. Midland Bank
Midland Bank Plc was one of the Big Four banking groups in the United Kingdom for most of the 20th century. It is now part of HSBC. The bank was founded as the Birmingham and Midland Bank in Union Street, Birmingham, England in August 1836. It expanded in the Midlands, absorbing many local banks, and merged with the Central Bank of London Ltd. in 1891, becoming the London City and Midland Bank. Cathy Cassidy (born 13 June 1962) is an English author of young adult fiction. She was born in Coventry, Warwickshire. For a number of years she lived near New Galloway in Scotland where she started writing her novels, but has since returned to England, where she now lives on The Wirral. Humbrol Limited is a British brand and former manufacturer of paints, solvents, and other accessories for scale model kits and toys. In the past, Humbrol produced under its own brand and the Airfix, Sky Marks, Young Scientist, 1st Gear, High Speed and W. Britain brands. George Shaw (artist)
George Thomas Shaw (born 1966 in Coventry) is an English contemporary artist who is noted for his suburban subject matter. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2011. Biography Shaw first attracted attention for painting the estate where he grew up in the 1970s, in the Tile Hill suburb of Coventry. Shaw studied art at Sheffield Polytechnic and received a BA in 1989. In 1998, he completed an MA in painting from London's Royal College of Art. Shaw is noted for his highly detailed naturalistic approach and English suburban subject matter. His favoured medium is Humbrol enamel paints, which are more commonly used to paint Airfix models. He was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2011 for ''The Sly and Unseen Day''. Shaw contributed a short story 'The Necromantic' to '13', a collection of short stories published by Soul Bay Press. ''Bonanza'' is an American Western television series that ran on NBC from September 13, 1959, to January 16, 1973. Tile Hill Wood
Tile Hill Wood is a wood between Hawthorn Lane and Banner Lane in the Tile Hill area of Coventry, England. It has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve. It is stewarded by the Coventry and District Natural History and Scientific Society. It is a mixed deciduous and coniferous woodland covering , with examples of Norway Spruce, European Larch and Hazel coppice, together with Sycamore, Oak, Spruce, Birch, Chestnut, Ash and Pine. There are specially-built paths suitable for people with disabilities (660 m). These have metal tap rails for people with visual impairment. From 1930, Coventry Corporation established the wood as a Nature Reserve and it had a regular forester assigned to it.
