Tibooburra (pronounced or ) is a town in the far northwest of New South Wales, Australia, located from the state capital, Sydney. It is most frequently visited by tourists on their way to Sturt National Park or on the way to or from Innamincka in South Australia and Birdsville in Queensland. At the , Tibooburra had a population of 134. Although facilities in Tibooburra are quite limited, fuel, meals, and a range of accommodation options are available. All significant support services (medical, dental, hospital, retail, mechanical, commercial) are based in Broken Hill. The New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service has a tourist information centre in the township. There is also a police station. There is an airstrip about 6 km east of the village. Milparinka, New South Wales
Milparinka is a small settlement in north-west New South Wales, Australia, about north of Broken Hill on the Silver City Highway. At the time of the 2016 census, Milparinka had a population of 77 people. Milparinka is on Evelyn Creek. Summer temperatures can reach . History In 1844, Charles Sturt's expedition was stranded for six months at nearby Preservation Creek, owing to a lack of supplies. Gold was discovered in the 1870s and a rush commenced in 1880. Sturt National Park
The Sturt National Park is a protected national park that is located in the arid far north-western corner of New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The national park is situated approximately northwest of Sydney and the nearest town is , away. Established in 1972, the park is named in honour of Charles Sturt, a colonial explorer. The park features typical outback scenery of flat, reddish-brown landscapes. It was resumed from five pastoral properties. The Sturt National Park was featured in British documentary called ''Planet Earth''. The Dingo Fence was built along the national park's northern boundary. The Unincorporated Far West Region is an unincorporated area in the Far West region of New South Wales, Australia. The area is one of only two areas in New South Wales that are not part of any local government area (the other is Lord Howe Island). Karenggapa
The Karenggapa are an Aboriginal Australian people of New South Wales. Country Norman Tindale estimated the extent of their tribal lands at , reaching from Mount Bygrave in northwestern New South Wales to Woodbum Lake in Queensland. They took in Tibooburra, at Yalpunga and Connulpie Downs, and included the Bulloo Lakes area. Their southwestern boundaries lay in the vicinity of Milparinka, while their eastern frontier ran along Therloo Downs. Social organisation and rites The Karenggapa did not practice subincision, their initiation rites involving only circumcision. Language They may have spoken a Yarli dialect. Bulloo Downs is a rural locality in the Shire of Bulloo, Queensland, Australia. In the , Bulloo Downs had a population of 0 people. On 17 April 2020 the Queensland Government reorganised the nine localities in the Shire, resulting in six localities. It included Bulloo Downs losing a portion of its western land to the locality of Cameron Corner while gaining a small portion from the south of the former Bullawarra (the rest being incorporated into Thargomindah). Wanaaring is a remote outback village in north western New South Wales, Australia. Situated on the Paroo River, some 980 kilometres from Sydney, and 180 km west of Bourke. Innamincka, formerly Hopetoun, is a township and locality in north-east South Australia with a population of 44 people as of the . By air it is north-east of the state capital, Adelaide, and north-east of the closest town, Lyndhurst. It is north-east of the Moomba Gas Refinery. The town lies within the Innamincka Regional Reserve and is surrounded by the Strzelecki Desert to the south and the Sturt Stony Desert to the north.
