Tian Jiyun
Tian Jiyun (; born June 1929 in Feicheng, Shandong) is a retired politician in the People's Republic of China, known as a supporter of Deng Xiaoping's reforms. The best-known feature of his biography is the speech of 1992, delivered in the Central Party School, in which he ridicules the "leftists" (those who did not support the new policy of openness). Tian proposed they establish their own "economic zones" preserving all the worst features of the old system. Biography Between 1981 and 1983, Tian served as the deputy secretary general of the State Council. He was promoted to the secretary general in 1983, and served as the vice premier of the State Council between 1983 and 1993. Tian joined the Chinese Communist Party at the age of 16. He has been a member of the National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party since 1982, and joined the politburo in 1987. Tian (surname)
Tián (), or T'ien in Wade-Giles is a Chinese surname. An alternative transliteration of "田" from Cantonese is Tin, from Hokkien is Thinn. It appeared in the ''Hundred Family Surnames'' text from the early Song Dynasty. It also means "field". In 2019 it was the 34th most common surname in Mainland China. The same character is Jeon in Korean hanja and is 16th most common in South Korea. Deng Xiaoping
Deng Xiaoping (22 August 1904 – 19 February 1997) was a Chinese revolutionary leader, military commander and statesman who served as the paramount leader of the People's Republic of China (PRC) from December 1978 to November 1989. After CCP chairman Mao Zedong's death in 1976, Deng gradually rose to supreme power and led China through a series of far-reaching market-economy reforms earning him the reputation as the "Architect of Modern China". He contributed to China becoming the world's second largest economy by GDP nominal in 2010. Born in the province of Sichuan in the Qing dynasty, Deng studied and worked in France in the 1920s, where he became a follower of Marxism–Leninism and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1924.
