Thérèse-Lucy de Dillon née ''de Rothe'' (1751 – September 1782), was a French countess and courtier, lady-in-waiting to queen Marie Antoinette of France in 1780–82. She belonged to the intimate circle of friends of the queen and was for a while known as one of her favorites. Life She was the maternal niece of the Archbishop of Narbonne, Arthur Richard Dillon, and married her second cousin count Arthur Dillon (1750–1794) in 1768, and became the mother of Henriette-Lucy, Marquise de La Tour du Pin Gouvernet. Dillon was described as a beauty and became one of the favorite companions of Marie Antoinette and one of the close confidants she invited to her ''petit cabinets''. Marie Antoinette Josèphe Jeanne (; ; née Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna; 2 November 1755 – 16 October 1793) was the last queen of France before the French Revolution. She was born an archduchess of Austria, and was the penultimate child and youngest daughter of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I. Arthur Richard Dillon
Arthur Richard Dillon (1721–1806) was archbishop of Narbonne in France. He was the youngest son of Arthur Dillon (1670–1733), who came to France with Mountcashel's Irish Brigade. At the French Revolution he refused the civil constitution of the clergy and fled first to Coblenz and then to London. Birth and origins Arthur Richard was born on 15 September 1721 at the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye in France. He was the youngest of the five sons of Arthur Dillon and his wife Christina Sheldon. His father was born in 1670 in Ireland, had fought for the Jacobites in the Williamite War and had gone to France as the colonel of Dillon's Regiment with the Irish Brigade in April 1690 when Irish troops were sent to France in exchange for French troops sent to Ireland with Lauzun. Arthur Dillon (1750–1794) was an Irish Catholic aristocrat born in England who inherited the ownership of a regiment that served France under the Ancien Régime during the American Revolutionary War and then the French First Republic during the War of the First Coalition. After serving in political positions during the early years of the revolution, he was executed in Paris as a royalist during the Reign of Terror in 1794. The Dame du Palais, originally only Dame, was an historical office in the Royal Court of France. It was a title of a lady-in-waiting holding the official position of personal attendant on a female member of the French Royal Family. Louise-Charlotte-Henriette-Philippine, Duchess de Duras, née ''de Noailles'' (1745-1832), was a French courtier and memoirist. She served as lady in waiting to Marie Antoinette from 1770 to 1791. Life Louise-Charlotte de Duras was the daughter of Philippe de Noailles and Anne d'Arpajon. In 1760, she married Emmanuel-Céleste de Durfort, duke de Duras (1741-1800), with whom she had a son, Amédée-Bretagne-Malo de Durfort (1771-1838).
