Thyago Vieira
Thyago Vieira Lucio (born 1 July 1993) is a Brazilian professional baseball pitcher in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Yomiuri Giants. Career Seattle Mariners On 20 November 2010, Vieira signed with the Seattle Mariners organization as an international free agent. He made his professional debut with the Venezuelan Summer League (VSL) Mariners, pitching to a 4.00 earned run average (ERA) in 12 games. He returned to the VSL Mariners the next year, logging a 3–5 win–loss record and 6.05 ERA in 55 innings of work. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In baseball statistics, earned run average (ERA) is the average of earned runs allowed by a pitcher per nine innings pitched (i.e. the traditional length of a game). It is determined by dividing the number of earned runs allowed by the number of innings pitched and multiplying by nine. Thus, a lower ERA is better. Robert Corniel (born June 23, 1995) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). , nicknamed "Shotime", is a Japanese professional baseball pitcher, designated hitter and outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). Fastball
The fastball is the most common type of pitch thrown by pitchers in baseball and softball. "Power pitchers," such as former American major leaguers Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens, rely on speed to prevent the ball from being hit, and have thrown fastballs at speeds of (officially) and up to (unofficially). Pitchers who throw more slowly can put movement on the ball, or throw it on the outside of home plate where batters can't easily reach it. Fastballs are usually thrown with backspin, so that the Magnus effect creates an upward force on the ball. Ethan Russell Katz (born July 4, 1983) is an American professional baseball coach, and former minor league baseball player. He is the pitching coach for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). Prior to that, Katz served as the assistant pitching coach of the San Francisco Giants in the 2020 season. He attended East Los Angeles College, and then Sacramento State for college baseball. Playing career Katz was born in Los Angeles, California. Katz is of Jewish background. Bakersfield Blaze
The Bakersfield Blaze were a minor league baseball team in Bakersfield, California. They played in the Class A – Advanced California League. They played their home games at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Opened in 1941, the stadium is well known for facing the setting sun and its shallow 354-foot center field fence, and seats 3,500 fans. Near the end of the 2008 season, it was rumored that the Blaze would move to the Carolina League after the following season.
