Thushara (film)
''Thushara'' ( si, තුෂාරා, italic=yes) is a 2009 Sri Lankan Sinhala romantic film directed and produced by Sahan Wijesinghe for Saga Films. The film is a remake of Yasapalitha Nanayakkara's yesteryear movie '' Thushara'' in 1973. It stars Saliya Sathyajith and Shalika Edirisinghe in lead roles along with Buddhika Rambukwella and Piumi Purasinghe. Music composed by Sarath de Alwis. It is the 1130th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. Plot Sampath, Thushara and Keerthi are batchmates. Sonia is a relation of Sampath. Thushara is Sampath's girl friend at campus. Sonia and Thushara are friends. Sonia's father and Sampath's mother tries to make them marry but Sampath doesn't have any romantic feelings for Sonia. Yasapalitha Nanayakkara
Delgahawatte Yasapalitha Wickramathilaka Nanayakkara (born 19 June 1940 – died 23 June 1996 as යසපාලිත නානායක්කාර) inhala, popularly known as Yasapalitha Nanayakkara, was a director in Sri Lankan cinema and stage drama. He was also a screenwriter, producer, lyricist and actor. He died on 23 June 1996 at the age of 56. Personal life Yasapalitha Nanayakkara was born on 19 June 1940 in Udalamatta village closer to Galle as the second of a family with nine siblings. His father was Francis Nanayakkara and mother was Irene Elizabeth Wijesekara Dissanayake. He started his education from Buddhist Mixed School, Mihiripanna and then from Richmond College, Galle. Rex Joseph Kodippili (born 6 October 1938: Sinhala:රෙක්ස් කොඩිප්පිලි) is a Sri Lankan film actor and film director. Primarily acted as a villain for the most of his career, Kodippili appeared in more than 130 films and produced two films. ''Thushara'' ( si, තුෂාරා, italic=yes) is a 1973 Sri Lankan Sinhala romantic film directed by Yasapalitha Nanayakkara and produced by Mohamed Omar Kareem Hassan. It stars Vijaya Kumaratunga and Malini Fonseka in lead roles along with Joe Abeywickrama and Sonia Disa. Music composed by P. L. A. Somapala. The remake of the film was screened in 2009 with the same title, where Saliya Sathyajith and Shalika Edirisinghe played the lead roles of 'Sampath' and 'Thushara' respectively. The film became a blockbuster of that year and commercially successful. It also received critical acclaim specially for the songs: "Kalak Thisse" and "Oho Thushara". Sri Lankan cinema encompasses the Sri Lankan film industry. It is a fledgling industry that has struggled to find a footing since its inauguration in 1947 with '' Kadawunu Poronduwa'' produced by S. M. Nayagam of Chitra Kala Movietone. Sri Lankan films are usually made in Sinhala and Tamil languages, the dominant languages of the country. Cinema of Sri Lanka is also referred to as Follywood as many famous Sri Lankan actors had surnames starting with an "F." Pattiyage Robin Steven Fernando (born 15 June 1937 – died 8 January 2022 as රොබින් ප්රනාන්දු in inhala, popularly as Robin Fernando, was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema and television as well as a stunt coordinator. Mary Felicia Perera (born June 7, 1944, සෝනියා දිසා) inhala, popularly as Sonia Dissanayake or known professionally as Sonia Disa, is a former actress in Sri Lankan cinema. Starting her career in 1962, Disa became one of the most popular film actresses in Sri Lanka in the 1970s and 1980s. Apart from acting, she also produced 17 films and worked as a costume designer. Personal life Disa was born on 7 June 1944 in Kotahena, Colombo as Mary Felicia Perera. S, or s, is the nineteenth letter in the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide.
