Lester Thurow
Lester Carl Thurow (May 7, 1938 – March 25, 2016) was an American political economist, former dean of the MIT Sloan School of Management, and author of books on economic topics. Education Born in Livingston, Montana, Thurow received his B.A. in political economy from Williams College in 1960, where he was in Theta Delta Chi and Phi Beta Kappa as a junior, and a Tyng Scholar. After he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship, he went to Balliol College, Oxford to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics, graduating in 1962 with first class honors. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1964. Career Thurow was on the board of directors of Analog Devices, Grupo Casa Autrey, E-Trade, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. Roger Thurow
Roger Thurow is an American author and a journalist. He is a former foreign correspondent for the Wall Street Journal. As of 2010, Thurow is a senior fellow for global agriculture and food policy for the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He is noted for his writing about the politics of world hunger. Early life and education Thurow grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1979. Career For thirty years Thurow worked as a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, and for twenty of those years he was based abroad in Europe and Africa. After writing a series on famine in Africa, Thurow and Scott Kilman, fellow Wall Street Journal colleague, were finalists for the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in International Reporting. Kerstin Thurow
Kerstin Thurow (born October 3, 1969, in Rostock) is a German engineer specializing in automation technology. She has been Professor of Automation/Life Science Automation at the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Rostock since 1999. Life Thurow gained her Abitur in 1988, matriculating to the University of Rostock to study chemistry. In 1992, she entered the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich for her doctoral degree in chemistry and pharmacy, completing her initial doctorate in 1994 ( Promotion). She returned to the University of Rostock, where she was employed as a research assistant in the Department of Electrical Engineering until 1997 and as managing director of the Institute for Measuring and Sensor Systems from 1997 to 1999.
