Thump Records is a record label specialized in various genres of music. Founded by Bill Walker and Al Lopez for $10,000. In 1997 Bill Walker became its sole C.E.O. and President. History Thump's success was ignited by the popularity of its Old School and Low Rider compilation series (co-branded with Low Rider Magazine). Thump's Distributor is major label Universal, and Thump has also signed many artists under its own banner. Tierra gained hit The Intruders' 1967 song "Together", written by Gamble & Huff, which reached #18 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 from Boardwalk Records, and later Tierra joined Thump Records. Katalina
Kara Wethington, known by the stage name Katalina, is a pop/dance artist who was signed to Thump Records. She is mostly known for her hit single "D.J. Girl" from her sole album ''Sonic Groove'' (1996). The album also spawned two more singles, "Sonic Groove" and "You'll Be My Future", but neither found much success on the charts. Career Kara Wethington was born in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to California at a young age, where she was raised. Wethington was discovered by producer/ manager Jon St. James while she was attending Sonora High School in La Habra, California and working part-time at his recording studio. When a vocalist failed to show up for a session, St. James asked Wethington to sit in and do a scratch vocal, which resulted in the song "DJ Girl" released under the pseudonym Katalina. El Chicano
El Chicano was an American brown-eyed soul group from Los Angeles, California, whose style incorporated various modern music genres including rock, funk, soul, blues, jazz, and salsa. The group's name was from Chicano, a term for United States citizens of typically Mexican descent. History El Chicano, originally formed by Freddie Sanchez under the name The VIP's arose during a period of increasing Chicano consciousness in America. Their initial hit, "Viva Tirado", was a jazzy soul rock rendition of Gerald Wilson's original song about a bullfighter. Francisco Soto, better known by his stage name Don Cisco (originally Cisco the Frisco Mac), is an American rapper and producer.
