Thrybergh Academy
Thrybergh Academy is a coeducational secondary school located in Thrybergh, South Yorkshire, England. The school was founded as a secondary modern school in the 1950s, with its own buildings being opened in 1956. It later became a comprehensive school. History The school was awarded specialist sports college status in 2008, changing its name from Thrybergh Comprehensive School to Thrybergh School and Sports College. The school converted to academy status in October 2013 and was renamed Thrybergh Academy and Sports College. On 1 May 2014, it formally merged with the local Dalton Foljambe Primary School to become Rotherham's only all-through school, catering for ages 3–16. The school gained new building through a PFI contract connected to the change of status, and has had difficulty servicing the repayments. Thrybergh
Thrybergh is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England, from Rotherham. It had a population of 4,327 in 2001, reducing to 4,058 at the 2011 Census. History Thrybergh – which is mentioned in the Domesday Book – was given to William de Perci, a chief aide to William the Conqueror and founder of the well-known Percy family, after the Norman conquest of England in 1066. The estate was passed on to the Normainvilles around the year 1200, and it remained with them until 1316, when Sir Adam Reresby became Lord of Thrybergh. For the next 400 or so years, an unbroken succession of sixteen generations of Reresbys held their place in Thrybergh. The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) is an executive agency of the government of the United Kingdom, sponsored by the Department for Education. The ESFA was formed on 1 April 2017 following the merger of the Education Funding Agency and the Skills Funding Agency.
