"Throw Some D's" is the first single from the self-titled album of rap artist Rich Boy, and his most commercially successful song to date. The single was produced by Butta and Polow da Don (who has a featured credit in the song). The song contains samples from the 1979 song "I Call Your Name" by the R&B group Switch. It has been certified platinum by the RIAA. The song was number 37 on ''Rolling Stone''s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007. Music video The music video was released in October 2006 and was in heavy rotation on BET and MTV, with a cameo made by Keri Hilson. Remixes * The official remix was produced by Lil' Jon and it features André 3000, Jim Jones, Nelly, Murphy Lee, and The Game. Marece Benjamin Richards (born September 2, 1983), better known by his stage name Rich Boy, is an American rapper from Mobile, Alabama. He is best known for the hit single "Throw Some D's" (featuring Polow da Don) released in August 2006. It was the lead single for his eponymous debut album, released a year later in March under Polow da Don's Zone 4 and Interscope Records. In 2009, one of his follow-up singles " Drop" became popular online through remixes and freestyles from then-upcoming internet rappers, including Childish Gambino, Kid Cudi, and Earl Sweatshirt. ''Da Drought 3'' is the sixth mixtape by Lil Wayne, released on April 13, 2007. Background This is the third in the trilogy of mixtapes in ''Da Drought'' series. Released in 2007, the mixtape was delayed slightly as a result of Wayne's last-minute decision to add songs to the album's second disc. The album is available as a free legal download. It only contains remixes of other songs. It is noted for Lil Wayne's use of similes, liquid non sequiturs, and metaphors. Shamele Mackie (born March 5, 1978), known professionally as Papoose (), is an American rapper. Well known for his freestyles and prolific mixtape output, Papoose has released four studio albums and 29 mixtapes since 1998.
