''Three from the Unemployment Office'' (German: ''Drei von der Stempelstelle'') is a 1932 German comedy film directed by Eugen Thiele and starring Fritz Kampers, Paul Kemp and Anton Walbrook. The film was shot at the Staaken Studios in Berlin. It premiered on 29 February 1932.Grange p.382 The film's title alludes to the 1930 hit '' The Three from the Filling Station''. Eugen Thiele
Eugen Thiele (1897–1938) was an Austrian film director and screenwriter. Of Jewish backgroundPrawer p.213 he was the younger brother of Wilhelm Thiele. After a spell as an actor he established himself as a director in the Cinema of Germany, Germany film industry of the early 1930s during the final years of the Weimar Republic. The Nazi seizure of power in 1933 brought an effective end to the career of the Jewish Thiele, who went into exile in Prague where he wrote the screenplay for one German-language film ''The Happiness of Grinzing'', and may have also contributed to a German version of the Czech film ''Romance from the Tatra Mountains''. He then returned to his native Austria, living in Baden bei Wien. He died the same year of the Anschluss which brought Austria under Nazi control. Hedwig Wangel (1875–1961) was a German stage and film actress. Life and career Born as Amalie Pauline Hedwig Simon on September 23, 1875, in Berlin in the German Empire, Hedwig Wangel was the daughter of a music publisher. After studying acting with Max Grube, she made her theatrical debut in 1893 in ''Urania''. Following performances for the remainder of the decade in theaters across Germany, during which she was a member of Max Reinhardt's Deutsches Theater, she then toured England during 1901 and 1902 and the Netherlands during 1902 and 1903, when she retired suddenly, began to provide care for homeless men and women, and assisted the Salvation Army and the Berliner Prisoner Association. Launching her own production company in 1925, she returned to films with the studio UFA the following year.
