Three Ounces Of Love
Three Ounces of Love was a group from Detroit's West Side that consisted of three sisters. In the late 1970s they went on tour as the opening act for The Commodores. They had a local disco hit with "Disco Man". History The group members were all sisters from the Alexander family. The oldest was Anne, born on July 14, 1955. The middle sister was Elaine, born on September 10, 1956. The youngest was Regina born on September 18, 1957. Earlier in the piece, they performed locally in Detroit at the 20 Grand and the Dearborn Townhouse. In 1977, along with another group Platinum Hook, they were signed to Benjamin Ashburn's production company. They signed a contract with Motown Records and recorded for the label. The result of the session, an album entitled '' Three Ounces of Love'', was released in February 1978. The Commodores
Commodores are an American funk and Soul music, soul band, which were at their peak in the late 1970s through the mid 1980s. The members of the group met as mostly freshmen at Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) in 1968, and signed with Motown in November 1972, having first caught the public eye opening for the Jackson 5 while on concert tour, tour. The group's most successful period was in the late 1970s and early 1980s when Lionel Richie was the co-lead singer. Con Funk Shun (formerly known as Project Soul) is an American R&B and funk band whose popularity began in the mid-1970s and ran through the 1980s. They were influenced by funk legend James Brown and Sly and the Family Stone. Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (or simply the Nassau Coliseum) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Uniondale, New York, east of New York City. Motorcity Records is a British record label formed by producer Ian Levine in 1989. The label aimed to record new material with former Motown artists. History Levine, a Motown fan since his childhood in the 1960s, was offered a chance to record Kim Weston on his Hi-NRG label Nightmare in 1987. The result ''Signal Your Intention'' topped the UK Hi-NRG charts and met with enthusiasm from Motown fans. Ian Levine
Ian Geoffrey Levine (born 22 June 1953) is a British songwriter, producer, and DJ. A moderniser of Northern soul music in the UK, and a developer of the style of Hi-NRG, he has written and produced records with sales totalling over 40 million. Levine was once known as a fan of the long-running television show ''Doctor Who''. Early and personal life Levine was born into a Jewish family; his parents owned and ran the "Lemon Tree" complex in Blackpool, including its casino and nightclub. Levine is openly gay.
