Three Bewildered People In The Night
''Three Bewildered People in the Night'' is a 1987 American drama film directed by Gregg Araki and starring Darcy Marta, John Lacques, and Mark Howell. The film follows three characters through the dissolution of a heterosexual relationship and the possible beginning of a gay one. Premise The film revolves around Alicia, a video artist, her live-in boyfriend Craig, a journalist and frustrated actor, and David, Alicia's best friend and a gay performance artist. Through a series of telephone calls and coffee shop conversations, Craig and Alicia split up and Craig and David take tentative steps toward a relationship. Gregg Araki
Gregg Araki (born December 17, 1959) is an American filmmaker. He is noted for his heavy involvement with the New Queer Cinema movement. His film ''Kaboom (film), Kaboom'' (2010) was the first winner of the Cannes Film Festival Queer Palm. Early life and education Araki was born in Los Angeles on December 17, 1959, to Japanese American parents. He grew up in nearby Santa Barbara, California and enrolled in college at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He graduated with a B.A. from UCSB in 1982. He later attended the University of Southern California's USC School of Cinematic Arts, School of Cinematic Arts, where he graduated with a M.F.A. in 1985. Career Low-budget beginnings Araki made his directorial debut in 1987 with ''Three Bewildered People in the Night''. With a budget of only $5,000 and using a stationary camera, he told the story of a romance between a video artist, her sweet-heart, and her gay friend. Locarno International Film Festival
The Locarno Film Festival is an annual film festival, held every August in Locarno, Switzerland. Founded in 1946, the festival screens films in various competitive and non-competitive sections, including feature-length narrative, documentary, short, avant-garde, and retrospective programs. The Piazza Grande section is held in an open-air venue that seats 8,000 spectators. The top prize of the festival is the Golden Leopard, awarded to the best film in the International Competition. Other awards include the Leopard of Honour for career achievement, and the Prix du Public, the public choice award.
