Thought Gang
''Thought Gang'' is a studio album by American composers Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch created under the joint moniker Thought Gang. Though released on November 2, 2018 through Sacred Bones Records, ''Thought Gang'' was originally recorded in the early 1990s. The album was preceded by a Lynch-directed music video for "A Real Indication" on November 1, 2018. The video was created in 1992 in the 8mm video format. Background In 1991, Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch decided to form the jazz project Thought Gang. The short-lived effort lasted through 1993 and led to two tracks included on the soundtrack for Lynch's '' Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me'' (1992) and a few scattered pieces on other Lynch films, like 2001's ''Mulholland Drive'' and 2006's ''Inland Empire''. Angelo Badalamenti
Angelo Daniel Badalamenti (March 22, 1937 – December 11, 2022) was an American composer, best known for his work scoring films for director David Lynch, notably '' Blue Velvet'', the ''Twin Peaks'' saga (1990–1992, 2017), ''The Straight Story'', and ''Mulholland Drive''. Badalamenti received the 1990 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for his "''Twin Peaks'' Theme". Badalamenti also received a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the World Soundtrack Awards's Academy in 2008, and the "Henry Mancini Award" from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers in 2011. Gerry Brown (born November 9, 1951) is an American jazz drummer. Life Brown was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He began playing the drums at the age of five. He played with soul groups and played in high school with bassist John Lee, with whom he attended music academy in 1970. In 1971, he moved to New York, where he played for Lionel Hampton. In 1972 he moved to the Netherlands with Lee to join Chris Hinze's rock jazz group. With bassist John Lee as co-leader, he recorded a series of albums in the 1970s. Alongside Lee, he also worked for Jasper van 't Hof, , Charlie Mariano, Eef Albers and Gary Bartz in the mid-1970s. ''Plays the Music of Twin Peaks'' is a tribute album by American experimental music, experimental band Xiu Xiu. Composed of cover versions of the music from the ''Twin Peaks'' Music of Twin Peaks, soundtrack, it was released exclusively as a Record Store Day release on April 16, 2016, by Polyvinyl Record Co., Polyvinyl in the United States and Bella Union in Europe. It was produced by former Xiu Xiu member Jherek Bischoff and mixed by Deerhoof member Greg Saunier. The covers were originally commissioned by Queensland Gallery of Modern Art for a 2015 exhibition, “David Lynch: Between Two Worlds”. Following the live performances at the exhibition, the band decided to record the covers in the studio. In accompaniment to the album, Xiu Xiu embarked on a Europe tour in April 2016. Xiu Xiu ( ) is an American experimental band, formed in 2002 by singer-songwriter Jamie Stewart in San Jose, California. Currently, the line-up consists of Stewart (the only constant member since formation) and Angela Seo.
