Thottilpalam
Thottilpalam is the second major town (after kuttiady) in north east of Kozhikode district, Kerala.State Highway 54 to Wayanadu district passes through this town. It is 29 km from Vatakara and 5 km from kuttiady. Thottilpalam is the main town in Kavilumpara panchayath. Town is situated at the bottom of kuttiady churam. Arjuna Award winner Tom Joseph is from Thottilpalam. Etymology The term ''Thottil'' has the meaning cradle and the term ''Palam'' means bridge in Malayalam. According to local tradition there was a cradle shaped bridge built across the Kuttiady River, by the British East India Company, to move their goods easily from the Estate in Kunduthode to the Tellichery. Kunduthode
Kunduthode is a small village in northeastern Kozhikode district, Kerala, in southwest India. It is under Nadapuram assembly constituency and Kavilumpara panchayath. The nearest town is Thottilpalam (6 km). Nadapuram is a census town and a special grade Panchayath located in Kozhikode District of Kerala, coming under Nadapuram assembly constituency. Tom Joseph
Tom Joseph (1 January 1980 in Kozhikode) is an Indian volleyball player who played for India in many international competitions. He got the Arjuna Award in 2014 for his great performance in volleyball throughout the year. Early life He was born on 1 January 1980 in Kozhikode. Career He led the Indian National Volleyball Team during the ''Rashid Memorial International Volleyball Tournament'' held in Dubai in 2000 when it won the gold medal. Joseph represented India in two Asian Games and four Asian Volleyball Championships. He also played at the 2009 World championship qualifiers in Tehran. At the national level championships, Joseph played for his home state Kerala and helped Kerala winning the National Volleyball Championship in more than one occasions. Orkkatteri
Orkkatteri is a small town in Kozhikode district in the North Malabar region of state of Kerala, India. This is the center town for Eramala grama panchayath. Economy There is a strong agrarian sector, and the crops are mainly coconuts and arecanuts. Paddy cultivation has a major setback now, as is the case with most of Kerala, with paddy fields being claimed for houses and for more profitable crops. Thikkodi
Thikkodi is a small village near Koyilandy in Kozhikode district of Kerala state, south India. Thikkodi is famous for a coconut nursery, which is 100 years old. The nearest city is Kozhikode, which is 35 km from this village. One can see remains of an old lighthouse in Velliyamkallu in Thikkodi. Thikkodi is also famous for its mussels (kallumakaaya). Memunda is a small village near Vatakara town in Kozhikode district of Kerala, south India. History The Story of Thcholi Othenan is related to Memunda.
