Those People of the Nile (Egyptian Arabic: الناس والنيل, French: ''Ces gens du Nil'', translit: ''Al Nass Wal Nil or Al Nas wal Nil'', aliases: People of the Nile) is a 1972 drama film directed by Youssef Chahine. It stars Salah Zulfikar and Soad Hosny. The film is co-produced by companies in Egypt and Russia . Plot Set during the diversion of the Nile current in 1964 during the building of the High Dam. Youssef Chahine ( ar, يوسف شاهين, Yūsuf Shāhīn ; 25 January 1926 – 27 July 2008) was an Egyptians, Egyptian film director. He was active in the Cinema of Egypt, Egyptian film industry from 1950 until his death. He directed twelve films that were listed in the Top 100 Egyptian films list. Mahmoud el-Meliguy ( arz, محمود المليجي, ; 22 December 1910 – 6 June 1983) was an Egyptian screenwriter and an actor of film, theater, and television. He started his career playing minor roles, but achieved stardom in the late 1930s. A popular and award-winning actor, he has acted in hundreds of films and was famous for his evil, villain roles. Career El-Meliguy is the descendant of an Egyptian family that took its name from the Egyptian city of Melieg in Monufia Governorate.
