Thorpe on the Hill (or Thorpe) is a small village in West Yorkshire, England. The village falls within the Ardsley and Robin Hood ward of the Leeds Metropolitan Council. It was mentioned as ''"Torp"'' in the Domesday Book together with neighbouring Carlton, Lofthouse, Middleton, and Rothwell as part of the Morley Hundred in the West Riding. The village is situated within the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, south from Leeds city centre, and between Middleton and Rothwell. It is split by the M62 Motorway, and is close to the M1 and the Lofthouse Interchange (Junction 29 - Junction 42). Thorpe Hall on Middleton Lane is a Grade II* listed building. Morley and Outwood is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Andrea Jenkyns of the Conservative Party. History Forerunners and boundaries The Morley and Outwood constituency was first contested in 2010. It consists of the town of Morley, in the City of Leeds metropolitan district, and around Outwood in the City of Wakefield district. Carlton is a village in the south of the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England, about 6 miles (13 km) from Leeds city centre. Geography Carlton has a Wakefield WF3 postal address. Carlton was previously part of Rothwell Urban District. Lofthouse is a village between the cities of Wakefield and Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. The village falls within the Ardsley and Robin Hood ward of the City of Leeds Council. Middleton is a largely residential suburb of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England and historically a village in the West Riding of Yorkshire. M62 Motorway
The M62 is a west–east trans-Pennine motorway in Northern England, connecting Liverpool and Hull via Manchester, Bradford, Leeds and Wakefield; of the route is shared with the M60 orbital motorway around Manchester. The road is part of the unsigned Euroroutes E20 ( Shannon to Saint Petersburg) and E22 ( Holyhead to Ishim). M1 Motorway
The M1 motorway connects London to Leeds, where it joins the A1(M) near Aberford, to connect to Newcastle. It was the first inter-urban motorway to be completed in the UK; the first motorway in the country was the Preston By-pass, which later became part of the M6.
