John Thorold Masefield, CMG (born 1 October 1939) is a British retired diplomat. From 1994 to 1997, he served as High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Nigeria and from 1989 to 1992, he served as High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Tanzania. Masefield served as Governor of Bermuda from 4 June 1997 to 17 November 2001. The Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George is a British order of chivalry founded on 28 April 1818 by George IV, George IV, Prince of Wales, while he was acting as prince regent for his father, George III, King George III.
